New arrival - U/D Page 5 - settling in? Empty New arrival - U/D Page 5 - settling in?

Post by Snowy Fri Mar 25, 2011 9:42 pm

Just been to collect this gorgeous boy from a lady who rescued him from her neighbour a couple of days ago, he is 8 years old and has the most horrendous fur mites all over, he has very little fur down his back, he also has a problem with balance because he has no muscles in his legs, he can't hop and is very wobbly on his back legs

New arrival - U/D Page 5 - settling in? Chance021x2

He has spent 8 years living in this box, it measures 26 inches x 18 inches, don't be fooled by the hole in the floor for the ramp to the downstairs, that had a piece of perspex accross it because when he went downstairs he dug the grass Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes. The hay was put in the the lady who rescued him

I think perhaps his owner should have to spend a bit of time confined as much to appreciate how cruel that was.

Glad he is safe now.

Poor little soul. It puzzles me that bunnies can survive in these conditions for years and not succumb to flystrike.
Pleased he is with you now to live out the rest of his life. x

I know, I keep thinking "8 years in that", well we have him in a dog crate indoors so as we can monitor him and how he walks, all he keeps doing is bunny flops on the fresh hay

I am sure we can get him better, I really hope so, the fur mites and fleas are really bad but I have started the treatment on those and he loved his massage last night, we will be giving him physio on his legs and when I take him to Paula I will see if he need accupuncture

Thanks for all your good wishes for this gorgeous boy

PS: I like the name Elvis

The poor little darling, How can anyone let this happen. They are to be loved and looked after, put before ourselves and our own needs. I really cannot think of anything bad enough for these people.

Absolutely terrible. Sad

I just don't know how people can keep an animal like that - it beggars belief.

I really hope he makes lots of progress now - he's certainly in the right place! So glad you have him.

I am rubbish with names, so won't embarrass myself!

pale

This little chap is a prime example for the 'hutch is not enough' campaign.

That is truly shocking. How could anyone think that that is ok?

Will the person who kept him like this be prosecuted (or even better - electrocuted)? Surely you cannot keep an animal like this and get away with it?????????

Post by Snowy Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:18 pm

Well, Paula checked our gorgeous little boy all over and *thinks* that it's severe arthritis caused by his many years in a confined space, she would like to do an xray to rule out old injuries but he is not strong enough for a GA at the moment

He has severe fur mites and ear mites, fleas and is in quite a bit of pain and so needs daily medication, Paula wants to assess him again in a weeks times to see if accupuncture will help him

He has settled in so well and seems very happy, he is eating, weeing and pooing very well, after everything he has been through he is such a little sweetheart, when Paula was pulling his legs around and I was holding him he decided he was going to lick my hand Love Love Love .

Thanks for all your good wishes for our boy
