A 5 - Way Bonding????? Empty A 5 - Way Bonding?????

Post by Josephine Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:55 pm

Well today I decided to take the bull by the horns and try to bond all 5 of my gang.
Bonnie has been on her own since Dexy passed away, and she is such a timid little thing, I really felt sorry for her. Mindy and Brian the two indoor bunnies have let their litter training go out of the window, so I have been thinking for a while that they were going to have to go outdoors. I am having to shampoo the carpets just about every day and spend most of my time cleaning up after them generally. I don't want them to be confined to a hutch and run, but I also want the others to have free run as well sometimes. So I came to the conclusion that if I could bond them all then they could all live in the shed and have free run during the day when I am around. At night they will be in the shed and have access to a large secure run.
So a space has been set up for them in the upstairs bathroom and they have been together for over two hours, Amazingly, so far, there has not been a massacre. Mindy and Hazel have had a couple of scraps as they both want to be head bunny. Bonnie has allowed Mindy, Hazel and Scamp to groom her, they seem to realise that she is really nervous and frightened and are being very protective of her. Scamp thinks all his christmasses have come at once and has spent time snuggling with his new harem. He is'nt mounting them, just been really friendly. The only fly in the ointment seems to be Brian, who has just kept himself to himself and is intent on escaping, which he has managed once. Hazel keeps showing an interest in him but he scarpers pretty damned quick. It took him a while to get used to Mindy, so I am hoping he will come around.
Here are some photos.

Bri will get over it I promise. Maybe it takes him back to his days when he was part of a trio and was always the odd one out as Charlie and Jack were so in love. x

I did think that could be the case, or more likely, he has got used to being a pamperred house bunny and there is NO WAY he is going to bond with the outdoor buns and go and live outside. Laughing

Thanks Katie, I wish I had edited out the broken bath panel though. There is a nice new wooden one propped up against the wall, though, waiting for Roger to fit it. Embarassed
There is a lot of foot stamping going on at the moment and Hazel has pulled out some of Bri's fur, but there has been no full blown fights so far. Fingers crossed. x

That could be true. He is a funny boy! But if he is going to misbehave and forget his toilet manners then it is outside for him! Time for him to think about his behaviour I think.

Oh wow Jo you're so brave! I am very impressed that they have managed to get along so well from the outset! Maybe Brian just needs some time to relax and then he will be happier. Good luck and sending vibes for a good fivesome bond Smile

Brave or just a complete idiot, I am not so sure. Anyway, Mindy has just humped Hazel and Hazel has'nt killed her Shocked Brian sits in his corner and if anyone comes near him he stamps his feet and runs over to the box. Rolling Eyes as soon as anybun tries to join him in the box, he stamps his feet again and back to his corner. Rolling Eyes They are not attacking him, just want to be friendly, but he is having none of it. Hmmm Bonnie does'nt move from the litter tray except when Mindy goes for her, which has happened twice. It might be worth me trying to get Bonnie and Bri together, as having a threesome and a twosome would'nt be the end of the world. rabbit

The look of absolute disgust on Bri's face is priceless. Laughing

Good luck to you for trying this. Multiple bondings are so scary because the dynamics are so unpredictable. It all seems to be going well so far and I am sure that Brian will come out of his sulk.

I think you would have your work cut out with bonding Bella or just getting her to do anything that wasn't her idea first!

Well I have given up on bonding 5. It just was'nt fair on Bonnie and Brian. Mindy was beating up Bonnie and Brian is still sulking. I have put Brian and Bonnie together, Bonnie is showing an interest in him, but he keeps running away from her, I think, though, that they will work it out, they both like their own space, but Brian will soon realise, it is nice to snuggle with a lass who does'nt squash him senseless when she is feeling frisky. Laughing
Scamp seems quite happy with his two big girls, luckily him and Hazel can both hold their own with Mindy. Wink
