I don't like medicine mummy!

Started Tigger's Panacur today, it started out quite messy whiskers got it, nose got it, I couldn't actually get it in the side of her mouth because she was so excited about it and just took it straight from the syringe no problems and then she cleaned it off her face.
Then all of a sudden she decided she hated it. She recoiled every time it went near her. At one point she got fed up with me waving it in her face and tried to take it from me in disgust and throw the syringe down but it got another bit a into her and she was not impressed!
She looked very grumpy so I went and got a small leaf of spring green and popped it in the middle and folded it over so she couldn't see it.
In it went... and out it came again as soon as she tasted it, but then it when back in again
Only 8 more days to go!

Oh bless her heart, sounds like she cant decide if she likes it or not, Daisy as like this when he was on metacam. He woulnt take it if I tried to "make" him take it, but if I just held the syringe out he would take it from the syringe willingly. I think they just like to protest, to let you know that they are in charge. x

I reached the point eventually where I just pop them between my knees, pull up their lip with one hand and pop the syringe tip in the gap behind their incisors with the other and squeeze!

I learnt some time ago there is no reasoning with a bunny that needs medication.

Haha they really do like you to know they are in charge don't they.
I'll see how the next few days go but I may have to give Sooz's method a go if not!

It was a bit of a stand off, I sat there and said I'm not going anywhere until you take your medicine young lady I'm sure she rolled her eyes at me...

And muttered under her breath I would imagine...........

I went thru this with Roo a while back, didnt even bother really tryin to syringe feed her, I knew she would have none of it! I resorted to hollowing out blueberries and squeezing it inside, then when the blueberries ran out I used grapes (seedless obviously) It worked a treat, she actually started to look forward to her meds and would circle me when she saw the syringe in my hand!
Another trick I have head is squeezing it inside a mini shredded wheat

mini-shredded wheat!!! put antibiotic or panacur in the hollow in the middle!JOB DONE!
I've done this with Fudge for both panacur and anti-biotics He doesnt get stressed, you as a parent don't get shredded and the bunny thinks it is an extra treatie

With his daily metacam now-the back of a basil leaf works well but he will also take it from a spoon with a bunny treat dropped in!

I gave banana a go. She licked it and decided she wasn't a fan.

When I was giving Mindy her Panacur, she bit the top of the nozzle off, she did the same the second time I tried to give her it from the tube Now it goes onto an oatibix bite.

Oh noes! Ish not goods I'm having to give Ruffles (Guineapig) Baytrill twice a day and he is SO unimpressed. I feel the pain. x

She is back to her incredibly cheeky self now it's like she hasn't even had an op! Had her wound check the other day and it's looking lovely.

I'm trying to think what else to try it on but I don't want to put it on the banana like I did this morning and waste a dose because she refused to eat it.
