Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
This is Baby Saint after my Husband Mike had just collected her and her Mum Helen they had been dumped at the side of a very busy road. Two young girls who were out jogging came across them at first they thought it was dumped rubbish till they got near and noticed it was a Mother and baby rabbit.
Baby Saint's eyes were so bad that when Mike bathed them pus just oozed out of them both. We later found out that one of her back legs was disabled and she has a dislocated pelvis and her body badly damaged the vet think's she could have been stood on and her eyes poked out.
You can see how big she was compared to the syringe at the side of her.

Baby Saint is now 2 years old which is fantastic as we didn't think she would make it overnight, she is on borrowed time and so every day is a bonus and such a special day for us.
Helen (Baby Saint's Mum) was alive with mites down her back when she was found, she was constantly trying to scratch and she would cry as she must have been in pain with them, her bottom was dirty and her nails were long, she has a twisted spine and splayed back legs but she is a wonderful Mummy a bit overprotective at times and a bit bossy but the fact that she could have left her baby at anytime but she didn't instead she was cuddled up to her keeping her warm just shows what a special Mummy she is.

Re: Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
Such a sad story. Is Baby Saint blind or partially sighted after what happened to her?
They look so much better now, it must be amazing to see them flourish under your care.

Yes she is totally blind but you wouldn't think so at meal times, she loves her food and treats

Re: Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
I've had a few partially sighted rabbits and found it barely limited their activities so I can well believe it!
Re: Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
The poor little babies! I just cried when I read it. How can anyone be so cruel! I'd like to poke their eyes out and see how they feel, make me very angry. So happy that they now know what true love and care is

Re: Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
Looking at the picture of Baby when she was tiny being fed made me so angry. How could anyone hurt something so small and vulnerable, let alone destroy its eyesight and then just abandon it. I really hope that karma visits its vengeance on them in some way. It was such a cruel and needless thing to do.
That wee pair of bunnies so deserved to be rescued and have happy lives. It is just so sad.

This just brings tears to my eyes but it is just more wonderful than I can express to know that they are both safe now and happy with you. You are bunny angels you know
Re: Helen & Baby Saint our special Brave Girls.
Just look at them, you and Mike have done a wonderful job with them Maysie, thank goodness they found their way to you, it beggars belief that someone could treat them so badly, it's just awful, well done for taking them in and making them look so well

We are not a rescue centre or anything like that we are just a couple with a passion for rabbits, I've had rabbits myself for 26 years and just love them, we just take on abandoned or abused bunnies and give them a happy life and a lot of love, we don't rehome we just keep. I suppose we are a little sanctuary in a way. We have 21 rescue rabbits at the moment
