Re: 8 bunnies!
As much as i love em - two make enough mess! i dont think i could handle anymore - so good on you! I would have to quit my job just to stand there with the hoover..... poop - hoover - poop - hoover - what a battle! I am trying to organise some way of my two wiping the wood chips off their feet when they jump out of their cage - its not working

Re: 8 bunnies!
TBH I would dump the wood chips. Mine just have newspaper at the moment. In the wintertime (they are outside) they have newspaper and hay. Woodchips can actually cause breathing problems because they produce dust and they can get into eyes.

Re: 8 bunnies!
Oh really? Just goes to show the inconsistancy of advice there is around, thats why I joined this forum, to clarify things! I was told this stuff was safe, and saw dust was the one to avoid... Thanks, ditch it I will! Mine are in doors and litter trained so they dont need it anyway i suppose - i thought about bringing the shredded paper home from work for them to dig in, though im not sure if they ink is safe? I have many books and have scoured the net on various issues and its really hard to find definitive answers on some things

Shredded paper is fine as ink is now non-toxic and made from vegetable dye I use newspaper in my litter trays and megazorb for the piggies etc

Re: 8 bunnies!
Brill, thanks a million, will switch to these materials straight away, im going through a bag of wood chips a wk thinking i am being thorough and doing my best for them, costing me a fortune for something that isnt any good for them! What brand of hay would u recommend? Also, as they cant have veggies yet, is there any kind of treat i can give them to reward them after i have groomed them?

Also, if the type of wood isn't defined, you could easily have cedar or pine in there which give of Phenols, which are harmful to a buns respiratory system.
Lovely pics
Re: 8 bunnies!
Have ditched the wood chips for newspaper, shredded paper and megzorb in their litter tray - thanks guys, we are getting there! Shame pet shops sell all this stuff that are supposed to be for rabbits, and safe, and then i found out it could do them harm - thank goodness for this website

3 males and 5 females. My girls have always been much easier to bond than the boys
