Spaying - seeking advance advice!
Hi guys, I have been reading alot of threads on here about spaying. My two are 11 weeks (nearly) and so I am looking at getting them spayed as soon as the vet reccomends (6 months I believe).
They are two females from the same litter, and have lived as a troublesome two'sum since they were three weeks - they are have a fantastic relationship at this point, and I really hope it stays that way! (I was originally told they were male and female - I have learnt since then that sexing them at such a young age was a shot in the dark). Anyone that has seen my pictures will see how yummy they are together.
Would you guys recommend having them spayed at the same time and keeping them together all the way through, during their bed rest at home and in the vets? Would they interfere with each others recovery or recover together? I have just read a thread about two females who really fell out post spaying
I would really appreciate your advice - the vet has told me to have them done at the same time, but as its a few months off I didnt ask all the questions that occur to me now

Re: Spaying - seeking advance advice!
I'm really not sure about two females, sorry.
I kept my two boys together through the whole process and there were no issues at all, but then again spaying is a more complex surgery for females, so there might be risks of them pulling each others stitches.
I hope someone will be able to give you more advice!

What I usually do if I have a bonded pair spayed/neutered they would both go for the Op together but when I bring them home I would have them in separate indoor cages next to each other so that they can still smell and see each other so neither can do the other any harm while they are healing, but that's a male and female of course, but we have a Mother and Daughter that we got from a rescue and we had them both spayed together and brought them home and put them in their indoor hutch together and they were brilliant but they are Mother and Daughter and very close.

Re: Spaying - seeking advance advice!
I have had pairs of females speyed before and I alwyas have them done together and keep them together throughout the whole process, a female can be neutered before 6 months if they weigh at least a kilogram
Good luck and let us know how they get on

Re: Spaying - seeking advance advice!
Ok, thanks guys! Felix is just over a kilogram and Willow is 900 grams (as of 4 days ago, so actually I expect willow will be over now too), so maybe I should get them done sooner?
I have seen 'vet bed' mentioned and looked it up, so I can get some of that for the indoor cage - it seems from what I have read I shouldnt let them roam the house for a while after, incase they pull their stitches?
I expect i should take the first week off work or something to watch them closely? The vet has told me that this is quite a risky proceedure, does it follow suit that the bigger they are the safer it is?
