When do buns start to slow down?
I asked a few months ago what you guys would consider middle aged, but I wondered what age you think buns start to slow down and be less active?
Jelly is five now, and in the past six months I have definately noticed a decline in her activeness. If you let them free range she will run around for 15 minutes and then go and lay down, but if its in the run its about 5 minutes. today she lay in the same place for 4 hours.
She is happy and doesnt have arthritus, but she is much less active. I cant think of her as old, but I guess five is probably the right age for her to start slowing a little bit isnt it?
she is still active dont get me wrong and if you guys saw her you wouldnt think her behaviour was odd but this is a bun who used to run around the run all day.

Paris is 5 and she is whizzing around like she is on sp**d! Unbelieveable, you wouldn't think she is 5 at all. I guess it depends on the rabbit I suppose.

Snuffles is eight and a half love, and whilst he has slowed down quite a bit, he still has his moments.

Bruce is two and whenever he gets let into the garden, he'll run around for 5-10 minutes and then he'll find a nice spot to sleep for 6 hours.
Although in my head, it would make sense for buns to start slowing down at around 5. Their youthful vigor is leaving them.

Re: When do buns start to slow down?
Binky is 6 and Pumpkin is 5.
They have both slowed down a little. They are still active and run round doing binkies... but both will no longer run upstairs. They dont seem to like jumping on and off the couch anymore... they still will but not as frequent as they used to ... they like all fours firmly on the floor these days.
They both will still chase pigeons/birds from the garden.. and Pumpkin chased a cat out yesterday...

Wolfie is 5 and is still really active. He is very nosy and loves to play chases with me. I make a complete idiot of myself running around the fence and he chases me doing binkies on the inside.

Re: When do buns start to slow down?
My old lady is 10 and although she sleeps LOADS she still runs, bounces about and behaves like a mad thing sometimes.
And she is still very inquisitive! Can't take anything in the house without her having a nose! Even if she's asleep when it comes in, she won't be for long.
I haven't seen her binky for years. I think those days are over.
She is still fun in her own silly way.
I can't really pin point the time when she started sleeping more and more. But it's only in the last year or so that I've been having to wake her up in the morning. Bless her.
