Something I need to share.

Hello my friends

I am sorry to be a whingy but something upset me very much yesterday.
Someone was selling a bottle feeder with a bunny picture on it and I commented on it being cute. When she asked how a bottle feeder could be cute, I said it was because it had a bunny on it. She replied and said that bunnies were evil, which made me very angry. She then told me not to over react and to b….. off and leave her sales thread.

I don’t know if “evil” is the new “bad” in modern vernacular but if this is so and it doesn’t mean evil in the biblical sense, I wish it had been explained to me. I was and am still very upset about this especially as some of the other members almost cheered her for her cruel comment. I said the only evil animals is man (hoppers excluded) and if a person can’t say something nice about something another person obviously loves, then keep quiet!!

Rant over but I needed my friends to share this.

Agreed the only bad on this plant is man apart from us animal enthusiasts. Lets face it, man as a whole has single handedly destroyed the earths atmosphere, wiped out species of animals and destroyed animals habitats.

Aww Jo! You are so lovely, I'm not really sure what they meant :/...quite strange. Hope you are feeling a bit better today, but unfortunately when people say things like that we have to try and ignore it as there is no arguing/changing some peoples minds. Take care xx

Thank you velvet and bless you Lilygrace for your kind comments. Something like this always rubs me up the wrong way and I know I shouldn't let it. You are so right, saying we should just ignore it but I am rahter defensive when it comes to buns. Thank you for saying I am lovely dear, I wasn't veyr lovely to the person who made the comment LOL!!!

Hi Jo,

I hope you are okay, some people really are beyond reasoning with. We all know how wonderful buns are and how much they can bring to your life, so in my opinion they are missing out on something wonderful, and its their loss!

Hope you're feeling better today Jo, that's not really a lot you can do about some people, so we just have to accept that 'it is what it is'

People can be so rude....

Here in Suffolk, Im used to being told Bunnies are evil... there is a lot of countryside here . I can understand it from a farmers point of view !

Many hunt bunnies round here but I can understand their situation doesnt mean I have to agree, so we agree to disagree...

Most of the farmers who visit comment on how lovely Binky is and say ... I dont think he would taste very nice for dinner I give them an education on how Binky sits on the couch and how intelligent bunnies can be... they are shocked that a bunny can be toilet trained... some how this makes a bunny be on the same level as a domestic pet... who knows it might make them think twice next time they are out hunting......

I chose to love animals more than humans and when I hear remarks like this it reminds me of why I do. How very rude and ignorant to say something like that.
On a recent visit to a garden centre Mike and I were looking at a beautiful big double hutch, it was well built and very spacious inside and I said to Mike "Now that's what I call a proper hutch any rabbit would be happy in there" to which a passing man with his Wife and Daughters looked at me and said "A rabbit should be in a nice pie with a jug of gravy on the side" and laughed. As you can imagine Mike and I just stared at him and I think he realised that we were not amused at all. ( You are apt to get fed up of the 'rabbit pie' jokes after you have heard them time and time again)
We have even been insulted at the check out in Tesco! waiting to pay for our groceries and a man commented on all our cabbages and when we told him that they were for our rabbits he loudly ranted " Rabbits!!!! yer should be eating em not b....y feeding em"
Now when people come out with rude and ignorant comments about rabbits we just pretend that we haven't heard them.

No one even dares to say that in this town to me, my cousin and uncle are well known in this town so they know who I am and anything that would be rude or offensive that is said to means they get a swift slap across the face

Thank you for your lovely replies and yes, darlings, I am feeling a little better today. You are absolutely right Katieb when you say it's their loss and Jay, I agree with you, I shiould just be able toa ccept it.

I can see what you mean Dawn Bunny. Farmers will always shoot rabbits and whilst we don't like it, we too can see their point of view. I think its great that you have them visiting you and they actually see what a lovely bun can be like, as you say it might make them think twice, if is alters the attitude of just one, it is a major achievement.

Dawnbunnies love, I would have been furious, I thnk I really would have lost my temper if someone said something like that to my face, but they never have but I am always ready. Did you say anything at all or just treat it with the contempt it deserves? Sometimes it is best to rise above these things although it is really hard, my temper doesn't usually let me!!

Tuckerbunnies sweets, I would have gone balistic, I would have said something like "That's what I'd expect from a moron like you" and I wouldn't like to say how I would react if he became ever more insulting.

Velvet Tears darling, that you for your kind comments and I am like you, no one has ever said anything like that to me. I am like you, they would get a slap.

Well my friends, you have all been lovely with your support and I am feeling much better now. There are people like this in the world and I should just except it as much for my own good as anything else but I just can't.
