Rorys eye :(
The good news is he is eating and pooping and seems fine, very affectionate as always and binkying about.
The bad news is there is no improvement in his eyes, if anything the pupil looks slightly more abnormal. Had a long chat with the vet on the phone- bless her she has been reading up on stuff since saturday and has really given his situation alot of thought. She is wondering about pasturella. We talked about rory seeing a specialist which is pretty far away, and im waiting for a call back from the specialist now. I just have this incredible sense of doom... He is 5.5 mnths old, he has been at deaths door once already - i wish i knew why! Please god let it be minor, i want ten years with this little guy not 2 mnths, its like he is too good to be true. I put the anti biotic in his eye earlier and kissed his head and he licked my face - he is one in a million

He sounds like a little sweetheart!
We have everything crossed that you can get to the bottom of this and that it's something minor like you say.

Re: Rorys eye :(
Thanks guys, im sat at work thinking to myself that it will be so sad if he ends up blind, if he isnt alreay blind in that eye at least - i just hope its not something life threatening. Im gratefull he is so laid back, this all could have been really stressfull for most buns, not casanova, he doesnt give a hoot, just another day on planet rory

Re: Rorys eye :(
I totally missed the first thread about his eye (I've no idea how) so just been Reading it now.
It's a puzzler indeed!
Do you have 100% faith in the vets you use? If not a second opinion might be worth a shot?
I did it once with Thumper, and BOY am I glad I did.
Just a thought

Poor Rory John Chitty is our specialist, and writes for Hopping Mad - he operates around Andover area, is this who your vets are talking about? It's not far from you.

Re: Rorys eye :(
Its ken fraser in abingdon. I just put the anti biotic in his eye and he doesnt even blink- he just lets it run down his eye ball. That cant be a good sign - he cant see im certain of it. Very upset today. Im speaking to ken again tommorow to get an app, he is going to shuffle things around for rory. My kingdom for this boy

Re: Rorys eye :(
Thanks guys theres me with a right cob on like he is moments from tragedy, and as i write he is chucking around a ball, chinning the life out of everything twice for good measure and hoovering veg like he has never been fed! I have trimmed his face down again as it grows like wild fire - how? At this rate if i left it for more than 3 wks he would look like cousin 'it'. I wrote the breeder an email calling her all the spawns of satan under the sun for blighting his life with her anti-vet ways, and promply deleted it without sending it. I know feel cleansed and have decided to scrap my plans to hex the women- i have called the plague of locusts off too. Rory reminded me of my favourite quote from Ghandi 'an eye for an eye and we would all be blind'

Re: Rorys eye :(
to you and Rory.
It is really sad he might be blind, but look at the life he has with you. I am so glad you have him and not someone else who would just neglect him and not notice he couldn't see.

Re: Rorys eye :(
Well said Nickie. In fact if I went to a rescue to give a bunny a home, I wouldn't think twice about taking on a little disabled one.

You would be surprised how well blind bunnies adapt, Holly is blind in one eye and even though she can only see out of one eye she copes so well.

Re: Rorys eye :(
We have Baby Saint who is totally blind and severely damaged and disabled who is one of the happiest bunnies going and and we had Angel who was our little black blind lionhead who we lost last May at 6 years old and he was always a happy bunny, as long as you keep the area they live always the same as they take in where everything is and don't like change they are just as happy and they binky just like a sighted bunny. If we had the space I would certainly not think twice about taking in a blind bunny. We also find blind bunnies very affectionate and loving, they are always thanking you by giving you a loving wash.
When we found out Angel was blind we always made sure that we tapped his food dish so he knew where it was at first till he got use to it being in the same place and always made sure we made a point of saying his name before we entered his room so he knew we were near.
I hope Rory of course isn't blind but if he is it's not the end of the world for him or you as he will adapt as animals do (it's us humans that don't adapt easily).
Sending him mega Vibes and you mega hugs
