Re: Weeds
Hi,
Thumper has never been a fan but I should think they would be fine if you give them a good rinse.
Maybe you should wait until someone with more dandelion experience comes along though.
Ps, excuse my temporary user name.... It's a long story

Re: Weeds
I'd wash them thoroughly in a 3:1 solution of water and vinegar - the vinegar will get rid of any nasties. Rinse well afterwards
Re: Weeds
I use the ones from ym front (I know that dogs haven't tiddled on them etc) but I do give them a good rinse! There is a gentleman up the road who goes and attacks the Woodland Ravine for Dandilions for his bunnies-he gives them a good wash too!

Re: Weeds
I got some Dandelion seeds from 'The Hay Experts' and grew my own and they have come up a treat, Ive filled 3 big pot's and an old Belfast sink with Dandelions for the buns.

Re: Weeds
ive got 17 seed trays (the size of A4 paper) filled with grass seeds and 25ish kinds of weeds, they adore the stuff and cant get enough off it,its annoying that its taking so long for the grass/weeds to grow back once they have stripped it iam dreading winter

Re: Weeds
Hey,
are they eating Hay as well as the grass? They will be fine in the winter with Hay, Pellets and Veg. Daisy doesnt get much grass in the winter either. We get what we can but its not anywhere near the amount he eats in the summer.

Re: Weeds
Dandilions..... from a roadside? No! I'd be too scared that the lead from petrol fumes had been absorbed into the soil and hence into the plants.
Another tip when picking wild forage.............. check for slug/snail slime on both sides of the leaf and discard any that show the slime trail. Slugs carry lung worm.
Also if feeding groundsel check the underside of the leaves; any that have a mould or growth on discard.
And remember Everything in moderation!
