New Hay
Had a hay emergency yesterday, ran out and couldn't get ver to the normal place to get some. Our greengrocers have started stocking hay, so I grabbed a bag, and it's bloomin marvellous! It's called 'Mr. Johnson's hay fest' and the hay smells gorgoues, and is in nice thick shiny strands - Stewie is loving it It was £2.99, but is probably cheaper from Jolleys or similar.
Re: New Hay
Oooh a happy mistake that you ran out of his normal stuff then
Shadow is so picky with his hay, when he went off his last bag of the one he always has I ended up buying a £8.99 bag of hay in the hope of tempting him back into eating, they little monkey turned his nose up at it so now it's being used to line his loo
Can you buy "Mr Johnson's" online do you think? I wouldn't mind spending that to try him on it.
Glad Stewie is enjoying it.

They have a website, but the hay isn't on it http://www.mypetfoods.co.uk/rabbits.html I'm interested in the pellets as well, as they have Pro-Biotic. The bag isn't huge, so will be smaller than your usual I suspect, but it's still a fair size.
Re: New Hay
Ooh like the sound of the pro biotic nuggets, after you mentioned it in my post about Shadow not eating, I'll be getting some!

Re: New Hay
I'm gonna have a look at them, unfortunately there's no nutritional break down on the site, so if you find them, could you let me know what the fibre content is, thanksAprilGirl wrote:Ooh like the sound of the pro biotic nuggets, after you mentioned it in my post about Shadow not eating, I'll be getting some!

Re: New Hay
We have just had a 'Range' open in Lincoln and I got a huge bag of Meadow Hay from there for £3.99. It is absolutely fantastic and the buns love it. It smells gorgeous, even i was tempted to eat some!
Re: New Hay
My buns eat any hay no matter where its from and we normally have bales but they do love the excel forage and the herby harvest from PAH.

Re: New Hay
Actually, I just looked at their pellets, and they contain Yukka extract - after a quick squizz on-line, I found this research into the benefits of Yukka extract & pro-B in a rabbits diet - sounds amazing. *this is a scientific paper, and includes data from rabbits that have been euthanased *

Re: New Hay
Its gonna be bad for hay this year, our farmer who we buy hay off is normally on his third crop by now but has only cut his 1st crop.
He's had horsey people wanting to buy 100plus bales off him but he has refused saying that he has to look after his regulars.
We are going for a bale next week and it will be this years one and only crop.
Iv'e 2 giddy bunnies waiting.
Another farmer near us has put his bales up from £3.50 to £13.00 as he knows people as desperate.

Hay for Pets
Has anyone tried Hay for Pets? I got a 10kg bag of meadow hay for £16 free delivery, it sounds dear but I thought I would try it because The Range hay they normally have just gets wasted, they don't eat it all. The hay from Hay for Pets smells lovely and the bunnies won't leave it alone, every bit is eaten. I don't know how long it will last I only got it on wednesday but the bag is huge, customer service is great too.
