Re: what do you think is this safe?
Any reason why you want such a strong cleaner? Just using bicarb of soda and white vinegar can be good for cleaning things

Re: what do you think is this safe?
im getting a hutch from someone and wanna kill anything that was in there, I used jeys fluild on the last one but the smell still remains x
Re: what do you think is this safe?
When Flopsy was in his hutch with his bridge bun Jem and she sadly left us i hosed out the hutch completely and scrubbed it out with white vinegar and when Flora arrived we didnt have any probems.
Flopsy and Jem had been there together for 4 years.

Jeyes Fluid a definite "NO, NO!"
Best investment I ever made for hutch cleaning was a HEAT GUN.
Clean the hutch well with something like bicarb & white vinegar. Then dry with the heat gun... it will not only dry the hutch but kill bugs in the corners and joins.
Obviously only use the gun when there's no bun in the hutch!

Re: what do you think is this safe?
My humans use a weak bleach solution to clean our homes. Then they rinse down with hot water. We get locked out and the roof comes off for it to dry.
Most of the insides of our homes are plastic anyway because we used to chew the wooden home we had before. However, since we got our litter boxes, our homes don't need cleaning more than once every three months or so

Re: what do you think is this safe?
There is a Sticky on the property ladder page about sterilising second hand hutches etc. As the others have said white vinegar is great and will lift of stubborn stuff that bleach just won't touch and is much safer for the buns. The Sticky thread recommends jeyes as a one off steriliser well diluted with hot hot water and left to dry completely and have no smell left. It is certainly cheaper than the horse stuff. But once the buns have moved in you should not need anything that heavy duty.

Re: what do you think is this safe?
yeah someone recomended the head gun after I done it with the jeys fluid, might throw it out as the smell is still there after 2 1/2 weeks!
Re: what do you think is this safe?
I use milton in my hutches once in a while, I take the floors and roofs off and leave it to dry all day before screwing it all back together again.
I use it in my water bottles too and it really does help stop the growth of algae. I make sure I rinse then bottle loads and loads of times before I use them again.

I use milton on the bottles too. I figure if it is safe for babies it is probably safe for rabbits.

Re: what do you think is this safe?
A heat gun is the electrical paint stripping tool. And I said no to jyes fluid because it soaks in the wood and buns chew wood and it can make 'em poorly... not to mention the stench of it. If we think it stinks just imagine how it must be to those super sensitive bunny noses and how they would have to live with it constantly.
