Re: Megazord Fans
Hutch wise... depends on the size of the hutch and how you use the Megazorb. Do your buns use litter trays in their hutches? If so, with only wet/poo in the tray you would only change the dirty tray daily (or twice daily in fly times).
When I used it in my big hutch (13ft x 3ft with a 3ft x 3ft sleeping compartment) I had the whole of both areas covered with megazorb, with hay bedding on top in the sleeping area. It took about half a sack to do this and with two litter trays in use. Raking over the open area daily was all I did for several weeks. Cleaning the sleeping compartment was simple too. Then I used maybe 6 or 7 sacks a year.
Now I have just the one litter tray for Lil Loll which I clean every morning and it's a simple affair with newspaper lining the tray and half of it covered with megazorb and the other half with his favourite hay... Loll likes to replace what he discards imeadiately! With one tray I use approx. one and a half sacks a year!

Re: Megazord Fans
he is a house bun, so doesnt have a cage at all - but I would reccomend just newspaper for the rest of the cage. Some snuggly bedding in the bed area to keep them warm and a layer of hay on top of the megazorb in the litter tray. This might encourage them to use the tray more too.

Re: Megazord Fans

Re: Megazord Fans
I dont know of anyone that has had any problems with it - as far as I know all most hoppers use newspapers for things hun. My local rescue are always appealing for old newspapers too.

Re: Megazord Fans
Think the news print ink as changed since the early days of "Proper" rabbit keeping.
Katieb: what size bag of megazorb are you buying? My sacks don't appear to have a weight on them but they stand about 3ft tall; they aren't too heavy to haul around but they're certainly not like carrying 8kg of burgess. Only ask cos if your using one sack of that size on one litter tray, every six weeks.... and I'm using the same over 10 months.... am I skimping?

Re: Megazord Fans
Mine sounds the same size......
Dont worry though, Daisy Has one of those litter trays thats a cat litter tray with a lid on - its quite big and i fill it prob about and inch and a half thick. He doesnt really get it all dirty but I have to change the whole tray really,
O/H is always nagging me about using to much!!!

Re: Megazord Fans
Now the title of this thread intrigued me because being the mother of two boys, I have fond memories of Megazords and believe me, they had NO connection with rabbits!

Re: Megazord Fans
We use newspaper first, megazorb and then hay in litter trays, and the rest of the bed newspaper first with hay on the top

Not very absorbent anyway. Metal guardian defeated by rust due to a good soaking in bunny pee!
