Sadly Button's eye has swollen up, and so am taking him to the vets in about an hour. He really hasn't been himself today so its obviously painful, for starters after months of trying to get him to use his litter tray, he has finally got in it and used it!...and also decided it is quite a nice bed!!! HBWS

here is a close up of his eye, it doesnt look too bad but it is really swollen compared to the other one!!

Hopefully he'll be back to his lively self soon!!!

sadly i had to cancel the trip to the vets as he flat out refused to get in the carrier No he put up such a fight i couldnt keep hold of him, thought it was probably best to not stress him out more!!! I think after the traumatic trip to get his Myxi jab (the vet couldnt keep hold of him either, he's a right wiggler!!) I think the carrier reminded him of that! but his eye doesnt look as bad now, so im going to wait and see, do you think bathing his eye with water would help? scratch

Poor Buttons, that does look sore Sad

When one of my sisters had a sore eye, bathing it with warm salt water (the salt is important) two or three times a day helped a lot Thumbs Up

He might need a topical antibiotic like Tiacin though, and I don't know if your vet would prescribe this without seeing him Hmmm

hope he feels better soon Hugs

Is there any way you could lure him into the carrier?

I really think the little monkey should get to the vets asap, esp if its swollen.

I know its easier said than done though...we have a similar wrestling problem with daisy x x

You have maybe tried this already but we've learned the best way to get thumper in her carrier is to put the carrier on a table or something of similar height and put her in that way. She will choose the carrier over mid air every time.

That might just be her tho Laughing

I realy don't know if i dare do that!! he seemed quite willing to try and jump of the vets table when he went for his myxi jab!!! Shocked

I tried everything to get him in his carrier, i put some basil in there (which he loves) but hes a smart little ******, he cased it out, hoped in and within a second had basil in mouth and leapt out the other side and jumped under the coffee table to eat it!!! HBWS I think he has realised carrier means vets!!! i may see if my neighbour who has cats has a small carrier i could borrow, as i think mine is from now on a no go!!! Rolling Eyes

Fingers crossed a salt water eye bath before bed might help!!!

I have bought one of those front and top opening carriers. I am leaving it out all the time so the buns can use it as a bolt hole. I chuck a little food in there to encourage them. Hopefully they won't see it so negatively.

Thats a great idea. They usually know that when the carrier comes in it means trip in the car (dread#1) and vets (dread#2).

This is my new carrier. As you can see it is easy to get the buns in and out of and it is spacious enough for both of them.
