Re: OMG I dunno what to do
Its not the wild, as its on her land and its all fenced round with her having horses etc, she said there is a old avery she is gonna convert for them to go into at night. This still wrong??? Thought it would have been better for them x
Re: OMG I dunno what to do
[b]As long as they cant get out and are tucked up at nite if the crazy gang were put in an old avery I can just picture them sitting on the perches

Re: OMG I dunno what to do
I can't quite believe that a vet would suggest such a thing.
Is she going to get the parents speyed and neutered? Because this could well happen again.
If it's open land I'd hope they would be supervised incase of predators.

Re: OMG I dunno what to do
The male has been neutered last week she must have been caught before.
where the avery is its closed off they have about half a mile all round to play in and the rest is just feild, but we thought with the woodland being on her land and a big fence all the way around it would be ok for them, but now you have said about predators etc I think we will have to just keep them to the avery part. Its big enough so they will be spoilt for weeds etc. Will have a word x

And obviously all the younguns will need neutering to stop more breeding. They are going to need to be checked daily for flies, mites, fighting damage and go to the vets for vaccination. They will need somewhere enclosed and secure overnight. The run will have to be fox proof and dig out proof. Not to mention all the normal cleaning regime. Poo build up will need removing from the run regularly. And whilst lots of weeds are growing now the ground will quickly turn to mud with daily grazing of (say) 6 buns.
I know we go on but I just think this needs to be properly thought through.

The aviery needs to be near the house so they can keep an eye on the bunnies, being near woodland it could very easily attract predators. Foxes have great sence of smell and will soon sniff them out and can easily dig into an aviery and once they know where they are will keep coming back

That's unfortunate. Don't forget he is still fertile, even after neutering.
And yes, the little ones will need to be sexed and separated once weaned before any accidents happen, then neutered when old enough.

Re: OMG I dunno what to do
right thanks guys back to the drawing board then, we spoke to her today and she said she can easily pick up a shed or put them in the stables with the horses as there is individual stalls and she can just put them in a free one for the time being or over the winter if need be. My neighbour has said she will get the boys neutered before handing them over. I recon she should hand over the sex there is more of to a rescue but she is adament she is gonna hand them all over to this relative. Im just trying to think of a good easy way for them to have a happy life.
