Bunnyville chez the Buddabuns - New pics p3
It is almost complete! The builders were working all last week to do up our pondok (conservatory type thing) and they finally finished today! We are off to finish off the outside run but I thought you might like to see some photos of our new bunny abode.
Where they are now ('scuse Mr B's leg!):
Before renovations began:
Now:
The buns will have an area sectioned off (approximately 1.5m down the right hand side of the room) with the cat flap leading out to the run which we are still building.
So exciting! Bunsters are, of course, blissfully unaware of the mansion that awaits them. We're hoping to be finished with the run by Weds/Thur so we can move them in
Does anyone else have a similar sort of setup? How do you get bunnies to figure out catflaps? I am a little concerned that they won't understand the concept of in-and-out etc, being young and, frankly, a bit dense

Re: Bunnyville chez the Buddabuns - New pics p3
Yes they are. The building work was finished yesterday (Monday) and the bunnie smoved in today after Mr Buddabun and I sliced our skin to shreds with mesh wire finishing off the run.
The understand the concept of the cat flap but only Hazel has worked it out. I wanted them to enjoy the last of the light today so I "posted" some furry letters through it just so they could see how it worked. Getting them back in was the same process. I'm sure I should have done it differently but they didn't seem to mind. They are now, however, puzzling over why the cat flap won't open!!! I have locked it for the evening as there are still weeny gaps on top that monkeys could potentially poke their fingers through and lift up the lid with... Although I very much doubt monkeys would eat rabbits I just don't want to risk it.
Still receptive to any cat-flap-familiarisation techniques or advice

Re: Bunnyville chez the Buddabuns - New pics p3
The Pondoc (I love that word) looks amazing. Did you have to pay for the work or did Mr B's work get it fixed for you?
Re: Bunnyville chez the Buddabuns - New pics p3
sadly the pondocs aren't actually owned by Mr B's work so any repairs etc are out of our own pocket.
it cost the equivalent of about 500GBP which is quite a lot but it needed doing... we are living out of the overdraft anyway at the moment after our initial outlays so another 500 didnt make that much difference (thank you HSBC for massive overdraft allowances).
bunnies LOVE being outside though.

we are semi detached. next door is a mirror image of us and the "split" is the big rusty water tower you can see in the pics. everything to the right is us, the left is them (they ahve a tatty old pondoc too) but their house is unoccupied...

Re: Bunnyville chez the Buddabuns - New pics p3
thanks maria. they did the most enormous binkies when they first got out there - you know the kind where their bums overtake their heads
we are still going to expand the indoor bit I think but are resting for a while
Plus accruing some more funds

Awww, looks fab. These are some lucky bunnies!!
How do they cope with the heat? And do the monkeys show any interest in them?
