My Nannan
My Nannan passed away yesterday, she was taken ill last week. We thought she was getting better but suffered a massive heart attack yesterday afternoon
She was such a proud woman, so much so that she asked that i and many other members of the family didn't go and see her in hospital until she 'was a little better', we respected her wishes and so subsequently i never saw her before she died
This week is going to be tough so i may not be around much

Re: My Nannan
I am really sorry
You did the right thing by respecting your Nannan's wishes and not visiting her in Hospital.
Yesterday was my late Mum's Birthday, she would have been 78 but she died aged just 52
I am sure you will always remember your Nannan as you knew her and not as the very poorly lady she became. She obviously didn't want that for you.
May she rest peacefully
xx

Thankyou Jane,
I didn't realise your mum was so young when she died
I know that she didn't want us to see her like that, and i know it is early days but i feel enormous guilt for not having seen her
I may go and see her in the chapel of rest but i'm not sure yet, will i regret it if i don't go or will i be more upset if i do go. I really don't know what to do, my head is all cofuddled today

Re: My Nannan
So sorry for your loss. She looked a radiant lady and you did the right thing by following her wishes.
If you feel up to it I really would urge you to go and say goodbye. It was horrendously hard for me to go to my Granny's funeral but I'm glad I did in retrospect.
Thinking of you. If you need anything just PM.
Hugs and RIP dear Nannan. x

Re: My Nannan
I have just popped onto the forum tonight to say a big thankyou for all your thoughts and kind words, they really mean so much to me :luv:
I went to see my nannan in the chapel of rest today and she looked so beautiful and at peace. I am so very glad that i went. When i saw her i felt 'relief' and gave out a huge sigh, it was as if a weight had been lifted and i felt an overwhelming feeling of calm, i feel so much different today than i have done all week.
I stroked her hair and gave her a goodbye kiss, i also placed a Mr Kipling French Fancy (bun) in her coffin with her (these buns always remind me of sunday afternoon tea at her house when i was a kid :luv: )
The funeral is on Tuesday. Thanks again all xxx

Re: My Nannan
I'm so glad that seeing her has made you feel a little better
I like the bit about the French Fancy! My friend lost he mum a short while ago and she put a spare pair of knickers in with her because she wouldn't go anywhere without her spare knickers in her bag!
Your Nannan is at peace now and she'll be looking down on you always.
Rest in Peace Nannan xxx
