What food?
Iv been feeding my rabbits heygates rabbit pellets for the last year, they do well on them.
However, with my guinea pigs arriving on saturday, Iv been wondering what to feed them, I have emailed heygates to enquire about the 'pet pellets' rather than the 'rabbit pellets' but havent heard back from them
There is a pets at home store just down the road from me and they stock their own pellets and excell pellets for both rabs and pigs... Im thinking of buying a small bag of pellets for the pigs to start with.
What do you suggest are the best pellets?
Iv just bought another bag of heygates [my dad buys it from the pet shop near my parents house], but unfortunatly they cant get hold of the pet pellets, which is why iv asked if they deliver...might ring them actually!!
Anyway, any suggestions are appriciated

Re: What food?
I don't have Guinea pigs but we get the odd guinea pig boarding with us and people seem to feed them on Science Selective Guinea Pig dry pellets.
I have often used this website for reference ....

Re: What food?
I always used to have a number of guinea pigs, but the food I used to feed them wouldnt be suitable as Im only having a small number of piggies and the food would go off before its all eaten
I did feed pets at home pellets before, but not sure if the excell pellets are better?

Sience Selective and Burgess Excel certainly seem to be the most popular Guinea pig food

Re: What food?
Thumper (albeit a rabbit!) was fed pets at home pellets for years and years and she was absolutely fine.
We then switched her to Excel, but for reasons I won't bore you with(we are having a mare!!) we tried to introduce pets at home pellets again and she turns her nose up at it. It would sit in the bowl forever.
So... (I will get to a point) I think the excel stuff is nicer. In thumpers opinion anyway. And she's the fussiest of the fussy!

Re: What food?
Piggies can be really fussy eaters. I feed mine a mix of excel and selective and then they will eat all of whichever is more prevalent in their bowl.
