Introducing the Newest Family Members
It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you Peanut-butter, and Smokey. To give a little behind the names... My wife and kids went to TN for Fall Break, with my Mother-in-law, they left on Wed. and came home Sat. evening. I in the meantime had stayed home and built the pen for our new family members that were coming. Saturday morning after work I went to pick the bunnies up and brought them home. The whole time the family had been gone they (the kids) were tossing names around for the bunnies. My oldest is seven and she had been throwing around all kinds of disney princess names. (I wasnt looking forward to that) but she finally decided to name the brown one, Peanut-butter. My son (4) decided he wanted to name the Black one Smokey Mountains, (since they had been in the smokies for vacation, and he liked the Mountains so much) We convinced him to just go with Smokey. . With out further delay here they are..........

Like Peanut Butter putting as much of her upper body in the Pellet Container and digging it out onto the floor so she could eat it off the floor??
Or like this morning (only been at Home for a little over 32 hrs at that point) when Peanut Butter figured out that she could climb on top of the Cardboard Tube, then get on top of the Nest Box, and then somehow climb up 1 ft of Flat Oak Board, and out of the Cage. No she isnt happy being confined to a 5 ft x 3ft. Pen.
My wife found this out this morning when she went to get my oldest some breakfast before school. ( I was catching the last few winks of sleep possible)
She comes in the room telling me to get dressed cause peanut butter was out of the cage. Me being the Optimist asked if she thought to look in the nest as thats where she likely was at. Carrie then replied, No Dumb @ss, I seen her run past the fridge when I went to step into the Kitchen.
She was not a happy camper and started saying all kinds of stuff about how the rabbits weren't gonna destroy her kitchen, they would find themselves outside quicker than Sh!t.
I quickly as I laughed at her reminded her that
1. She had been the one who came up with the idea to get the rabbits in the first place.
2. They are both babies still and not that much different than our own kids when it comes to mischief/destruction.
3. They being babies could not go outside this winter due to how cold it could get and that they had to stay inside this winter.
She didnt see the amusement in it at all, I continued to laugh at her as I left for the Fire House.

Did Peanut Butter enjoy her exploration? She just wanted to see what the rest of her new home looked like.

Re: Introducing the Newest Family Members
My Florence can get over any fence Joe. She sits there and works out ways to get out. She could get out of their old 4ft high run and I had to put lean in fence around the top to stop her. The easiest answer is simply to put a lid on the run. A blanket or sheet will do the job short term.

Re: Introducing the Newest Family Members
Perhaps you could get netting to go over the top of their pen ? Just pin it over it to avoid in jumping!
The only time Luna has jumped over their pen and onto my bed was when I didn't wake up in time to feed them

Re: Introducing the Newest Family Members
They are progressing nicely, with our loud children running around the house. (they only have one volume, Extra Loud)
Saturday evening and Sunday, they would bolt to the nest at the first loud noise. I was at the Fire House all day yesterday so didnt get to observe behavior. But since having picked up the kids this morning, coming home and cleaning their pen. They have been playing non stop all morning, the kids arent phasing them anymore for the most part.
They've figured out how to jump on top of the nest now without needing something to boost them. I watched them both take turns jump onto the nest, while mopping the Kitchen Floor. LOL.
