My elder pig Nutmeg has some fun in the garden. She was rescued by the RSPCA who found her living with at least 50 other piggies (including Treacle black piggie). She came to me with very tatty ears from fighting and pregnant and all the vet could tell me was that she was definitely older than Treacle and my bridge piggy Cinnamon. I reckon she is at least 4 but as you can see she is still full of beans. My piggies never fail to make me smile.

Oh they are gorgeous. One thing I miss about having piggies over rabbits is the cute "squeeeeeeeeeeeek eeeeekkkk" noises.

How many have you got?

Just the 4 you can see here - Nutmeg, the ginger one with the white belly, Treacle, the black one, Annie, the other ginger one and Clarabel the agouti and orange one. They always make me laugh when they go out in the garden. They favour this spot of grass for eating and they spend a lot of time running over to it and then back to their hutch. I open the hutch and they run out to their patch of grass (which is the lushest part of the grass because the buns use it as their outdoor litter area) then when they are full the put themselves back to bed again.

They are beautiful.

My last two were two sisters, and they learnt grass was outside the patio door. If anyone went anywhere near it you got shouted at for grass. One of them, Ruby, used to move her mouth when she done it she was so loud.

I'll dig out some piccies of them, I do miss my piggies. One day I'm going to have them again.

i have such a weakness for piggies, hubbie is hopefully going to alter the cage today so they is space for the pig to live there without the rabbits,so iam wanting to bond her with another piggy as i dont want her to be on her own,how easy or hard is it to bond piggies and how do you go about it?

Unlike rabbits I would say go for a a baby. I have only had one piggy that refused company - but then she bullied Bruce as well! My former elder pig joyce would not accept the rspca girls when they arrived (as company for her!) but she accepted cinnamon's 2 girls, Annie and Clarabel, no problem. Then when Joyce died Treacle and nutmeg accepted the other 2 back with them with no drama. The trick with piggies is to give them planty of places to hide from each other. Like with buns give them time - about a week - with just wire between them. Allow them to stop all the pacing and chuntering and start to take friendly interest in each other then move them in. The natural group size for piggies is 3 +. If you have all girls they will not be a problems at all and sexing young piggies is actually very easy. And the boys rules are pretty much the same as buns - 2 boys will most likely fight, 1 boy per groups of girls.
