Excellent video on accommodation
From Wood Green shelters.
Really like the set up - hutch within a run

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
It's a great video and set up but the run is't very tall above the hutch is it? Flo would be out of there within 5 mins.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
loved the little buns and i loved the set up but agree with the run wasnt very tall and mine would also jump the other thing that made me think was, they say they need a lot of space to run around ect but the run seemed to be too cluttered

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
I agree about the height, but the essence of the set up is awesome, not thought of that before.
Re: Cluttering..she does say that the stuff can be moved around to create more stimulating environments. When you make films like this, you kinda have to appeal to lowest common denominator, and someone who's bun is sat in a hutch, alone, may see this kinda thing, and never have realised that toys and providing an enriching space are benficial.
I think it's a good idea that could be improved upon.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
This is similar to how we have our set up's for our buns but I just wish the play pens were bigger but we were pushed for room.
and then we have 1 spare play pen at the end for bunnies who don't have a play pen and that's Barry, Jess and Koko and Katie and they go out in the play pen in shifts.
Katie and Koko are in it at the moment.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
That set up is essentially what my aviary set ups are, the bonus being my buns cannot jump out and the whole aviary is covered with a roof and tarp to keep the elements out.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
I'd like to do a little feature on your aviary's for HM, if you'd like to?
Re: Excellent video on accommodation
I think that setup would provide lots of stimulation because of the flexibility it provides. It could easily be fitted with attached external made from the black, flexible water landscape drains for even more fun. Give them a pseudo burrow to navigate through.

This is what I liked about it, lots of scope for changing their environment and providing stimulation. It seems so much better than the hutch/run combo. Nice to see you posting

This is the trios avairy, it's approx 5ft by 4ft and 5ft high
the tunnel out
the junction box (they kept meeting head on in the middle )
the run
The rex trios avairy and play house. The avairy is 8ft by 3 ft wide.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
I wanna go and live at Vince's house!!!!
Your buns obviously cope ok with going up and down the pipes at that angle? We could do with something similar as our garden is on three levels. Humum wants to keep a bit of it bunny-free but would let us have runs on each if she thought we could get up and down the pipes....

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
They don't have a problem at all, the tunnels are grooved inside not smooth so there is plenty to grip hold of. I figured rabbit burrows are at funny angles and steep and the rexes are very agile. so it works for them

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
That video is a fab idea of a hutch inside the run, but i agree it's not high enough, and i would want to put a waterproof roof on it to stop everywhere getting sodden! I also wouldn't put potted herbs in the run though...with buttons they would be eaten in 5 mins!!
I Love your aviary's Vince the bunny!! They really are fab!! I also love the childrens road rugs!! I think Buttons would love one of them!!

They are washable too so I can keep them clean. It's usually me who gets them dirty with my gardening shoes on the muddy grass. DH laughs that I take my shoes off before entering my rabbit's homes

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
Thanks for the pics - I think they are awesome!
I'm thinking of doing a piece on alternative accommodation, of which your aviaries will be the main feature. I'll be in touch for an interview if that's ok with you

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
I think the taller the better, not just to keep them from escaping but from dangers like big birds or cats. Ours will hopefully be full height of me, fully enclosed so I can stand inside it, hubby wants to put a slopped roof on it for shelter he isnt happy the rain is getting into charlie. Awwww he woves him.

Re: Excellent video on accommodation
That avery type idea is what we would like to do, hubby actually wants to get fencing (wooden) put it on eather side of the play houses, with a slopped roof using that roofing plastic stuff, then use the mesh on the front, but bring it out just past the wood sides so more light can get in, I was thinking more along hte lines off all way from garage to back door so dont have to get wet lol
