Bugs 21.6.07 - 24.11.11
I know i havent used the forum much in recent times, but i felt i needed to write this down somewhere.
Domino was my world, my baby girl, my princess.
Domino sadly passed away in the early hours of the morning. The vet believes it was from shock, due to minor dental treatment yesterday.
I was holding her last night and I should have known something was wrong. She was drifting, her balance and co-ordination wasnt all there and her eyes looked empty. At the time I thought it was the recovery from the anesthetic. I put her to bed as normal and she settled down, but still a bit uneasy. My partner thought there was something wrong, but I tried to put his mind at rest. He suddenly woke up at 4.30 this morning and found her. She had already left us. I was greatful that she was here with us when she went, but i feel so helpless. I know there was nothing we could have done, but i feel guilty in some way even though i have nothing to feel guilty for.
I have no idea how im meant to feel. I have a constant wave of emotions, one minute im calm and rational about it all, then the next im bursting out into tears.
I love her so much and will miss her terribly.

So very sorry for your loss.
She was a very pretty girl, and must have been very special to you.

I'm glad you felt you could come and talk about it here.
I'm so sorry to read this, for all the advances in anaethesia and surgery over the last few years, there are still some buns who just can't get through, and I'm so sorry it was Domino
She was beautiful bun, and I remember when you first introduced her on here. She had a great life with you and that's the best a bun can ask for.
Sleep tight Domino x

What a lovely elegant bunny!
It is really hard when this happens and hard to know who to talk to.
We lost our first bun last year, she stopped eating and despite vet intervention just slipped away. I can remember feeling numb for quite some time afterwards but not saying anything to people because I knew they just would not understand.
Give yourself permission to be upset and do come onto the forum because so many here have had a similar experience and will empathise with your loss.
When you feel a little less raw a few weeks from now, think about setting up a box in Domino's memory with photos etc or plant something special in the garden. This might help the healing a little...

Thank you all of you for your kind words and support, it really has helped having people who understand what im going through.
We collected Dominos ashes this evening and is now taking pride of place in the living room, in her spot. We did get a plant over the weekend and nice big white flowered one too, its nice to have her home now. Hopefully things will start to get easier from now on xxx

Lovely to hear that you are coping and sounding so positive.
Not sure how they deal with these things in Norway but here in the Netherlands the people at the crematorium were wonderful. Very sensitive with pet owners, the entire process was handled in a gentle and dignified manner. This kind of thing can really help.
I wish you well
Sarah
