When I had horses we would find dead field mice but the cat mr tibbles used to just leave us the bums of the mice. Wasnt pleasant. Its amazing what can come in the packed bales though!

Re: We won a prize in our hay bale...
Not now as we have a good hay source, but over the years we have had in our hay... a number of flat mice, part of a flat pigeon, a flat rat, a flat magpie, a flat chicken and horse droppings
lovely, especially when you have picked it up not knowing what it is and then realise what it is

Most of the flat creatures were in bales of hay when I had the horse .

Re: We won a prize in our hay bale...
When I lived in Doncaster I used to have a tortoise called Duncan. Our garden backed on to a corn field, and the day he went missing, was the day they harvested the field.
Someone, somewhere, would have found my (chopped-up) Duncan in their bale.
Still cant think about it without crying.

Hay bales can be parcels of mystery. I've found mice, a headless pheasant, empty drinks cans a rat tail, numerous plastic bags and the most yukky... a condom! Please... don't take that last one any further. It doesn't bear thinking about!)

Re: We won a prize in our hay bale...
Did the hay bale come from devon in the late 90s? A friend of mine was caught whilst using a condom in a hay field by the local rescue helicopter. She said the hovered for a good few minutes!
