Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Florence, who I've had since September, doesn't know her name at all. You call her and she ignores you. She hasn't got a clue!! Whereas Dougal, who has been here for four weeks tomorrow, does Seeing as this is at least his third name, he has picked it up really quickly. I just said to Florence "Go get Dougal" and he looked up at me. Surprisingly Florence did go over to him, so maybe she knows his name but not her own
Just wondering what experiences you guys have

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Thumper never responded to her name so I don't think she recognised it. And if she did, she spent a lot of her time ignoring me
Then again, I rarely ever used her name so she had no chance of learning it really. She had so many nicknames that I probably never used the same one more than twice in a row

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I am pretty sure that all six 'know' their names and respond to them. They also know 'sweeties' and 'tea'. BJ and Rosie recognise 'out' too. This usually precedes them being caught to be placed in their run on the grass during the summer. As soon as they hear 'out', Rosie stamps and the pair of them then do their best to hide!!!!!!!

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I think Vince and Hazel do, when running around the garden I call them if they look like they are about to dart under the fence, and they do stop, quite remarkable really. They recognice the word 'in' but I think mostly they understand my tone of voice, they know when I'm being stern and they are in trouble
My rex girls respond to being called 'c'mon girls' in a cheery voice but I don't know about Boo.
My kids don't know their names, they only respond to me when the words chocolate, crisps and sweets are involved

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I've got a two year old niece, and whenever my name is mentioned at the moment she brings up the fact I bought her ice cream when we went to the panto and that I wore a party hat at her birthday party I was so drunk at her party though, so I'm very happy that its "Auntie hat party" rather than "Auntie party drunk"
It wasn't my fault I was drunk at her party though I hasten to add!!
Florence knows the sound of the pellet cupboard, yet doesn't know her name. Funny that!

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
My lot also recognise the sound of the patio doors opening, I hear 6 sets of bunny feet clattering down the runaround pipes towards me to see what noms I have for them

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Daisy knows his name because his ears move but I know he also likes to ignore me too!
Im not sure about Annie.... I think she thinks the word "annabelle" means "food".
Charlie seems to be getting there bless him and is starting to come or stay still when I call him.

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I think Joey does, he normally stops what he's doing if you tell him off and shout his name
If I kneel on the floor and tap on the ground and say 'Come to Mumma' he quite often does. He did it today

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Rory does- I think willow and Felix aren't sure who is who! They both understand 'no' and willow is more likely to look at me and stop what she is doing (preparing to jump over the run) - they all recognise the sounds associated with food - though Rory nibbles all and isn't impressed - the girls behave like they have been starved for a mnth and go loopy

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I really can't tell if Nibbler knows his name, he doesn't respond to it in any way, but then that's probably because of all his nicknames! I think he does know when I'm talking to him because if I say his name or talk to him one ear pops up then the other goes if he decides I'm being interesting enough!

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
My two are 7/8 yrs old both know their names....
I was talking to my dad the other day about the buns and just mentioned Binky's name even though he was asleep he still woke up and moved his ear looked at me...
They know each others name also... if I shout Pumpkin , Binky will then look round to see where Pumpkin is... over the years they also recognise their nicknames and will respond to these also .. Binks or Pumps !

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I'm starting to think Florence is just ignorning me. Last night I said to her "Florence go get Dougal", he looked up and she went out to kiss him It may have been coincidence, but it was sweet either way.
I think its just funny how after four weeks and on his third name Dougal responds and she doesn't at all

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
I think you have a point about being ingnored. Flo mostly ignores me. She does show signs that she recognises her name - she will look up at you if you say her name and have a think about whether she needs to respond. But both buns know several words - No! In! Bed! Bruce knows 'kiss' and Flo knows 'breakfast'. Bruce does not need to know 'breakfast' as he realises if the piggies have their food then the bunny food will also be waiting for them.

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Mine have always known theirs. They each have had other words they learned, but they were some different. They all knew/know carrot, appy(apple), time to go night night, bad bunny, daddy, mommy. Then their vocabularies differed from that point.
Poor Lady would run and hide at the word 'vet' which was funny since you could be talking about a car or a veteran saying the V word and she would still hide.

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Myrtle seems to know her name but mostly if I am holding an apple.
She also knows 'goodbye treat' for when we leave the house and 'OI!' if she goes near the flower beds
She knows "Myrtle" which I know is her name but it is said differently...as if she is about to do something, like going near wires

Re: Do Your Bunnies Know Their Name?
Haha I love that Dougal knows his name but Florence doesn't!
I think Tigger knows her name, sometimes she will look at me or come running when I say her name but other times she will ignore me.
Jeeves I'm not sure about as he's so laid back he doesn't respond much at all but I did call him the other day and he ran out from under a platform they have, who knows!
Because they live at the bottom of the garden they know when we are coming as to not freak out. They hear the back door open and close, the porch door open and close, also the gate if it's shut and if it's dark the floodlight comes on, then they hear footsteps along the path and then their gate opens and closes, their floodlight if it's dark comes on and then the shed door opens.
(sounds like fort Knox!)
But if you do all that and then don't open their shed door for a while, because like my mum you were too busy looking in the field at the deer, and then open the shed after a while they run off because you scare them.
