New "Complete" Food What do you Think?
What do you think to this folks?
http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/excelfeedingplan/food-cube.html
Im not convinced there is enough hay in this cube.
How long would it take a bun to eat it. We know that their hay eating takes up a lot of their time and it important for boredom as well as everything else?
I guess it would be better for buns out there who dont get hay - but I dont think its a replacement for hay.

i'm with you on that one katie.
but excel have always had a good name though so i guess a lot of people would probably buy it for that reason only without looking into more depth.
i personally would use what i am as my buns seem to love it so far.

I don't think that's a replacement at all. I never believe anything that states it is 'complete'

Mike and myself are worried that some people will throw a cube in to last for a couple of days and it just won't be enough and the bunnies will not get enough of what they should be having.

Re: New "Complete" Food What do you Think?
It's funny but a lot of people just look on hay as being something that is bedding and that the bunny also sometimes eats. They don't realise how vital it is. Also, most people don't feel they are feeding their pet unless they have bought what they consider to be food for them i.e. pellets or some manufactured food. I can see this being good for those rabbits who don't usually get given hay and it might be a boon for indoor bunnies (along with some loose hay) as it isn't as messy but does contain a lot of fibre.
But I am with the rest of you and will continue just to pile a huge amount of hay into their hutch every morning.

It looks--interesting I guess---but---Our bunnies
come in different sizes with different temperaments.
Seems just this past fall the 'experts' were telling
us to even spread their greens around(our carpet
didn't like that much!) so it would more
resemble how they foraged in the wild. How is
eating a cube anything remotely like foraging?
Are they just going to pick the thing up and carry
it around? I'm going to want to hear of some
real peeps with real bunnies trying this product.
I don't even know if it is available in the USA yet.
If anyone tries this, be sure and let us know!

I just read some more on the cube. It contains
Maize. That's corn. I thought corn was bad
for our fluff-heads or am I cornfused?

I heard corn was bad for them too?
This is all very confusing.
I agree I think this does nothing for promoting natural behaviour. Although it is a step up for those buns that are fed nothing but muesli - minus the corn!

Rabbit's can eat maize and they usually love it but we never give it our buns especially those hard corn on the cob sticks that pet shops sell as I have read where rabbits have died from eating them and choking
