Simon - Toothless Netherland Dwarf - SURREY
Contact/organisation details: Furry Friends in Old Coulsdon. Please PM me on here, email furry_friends_rescue@hotmail.com or call Anna on 0751 568 4921. We recommend calling us as we can't always check our emails daily.
Does the animal have rescue back up?: Yes for the rest of his life.
Location: Caterham/Old Coulsdon SURREY
Number of animals: 1
Sex: Male.
Age(s): 2 years.
Name(s): Simon.
Neutered: Yes and vaccinated.
Reason for rehoming: Has come to us after his owner inherited her Mother's cat and could no longer keep him.
Will the group be split: Simon needs a home where he can live with a spayed female rabbit to keep him company.
Other: Simon's teeth were in a terrible way when he arrived. The vet has tried to cut his teeth so they grew straight, however they kept growing the wrong way and the top teeth didn't appear to be growing at all. Our vets have now removed his top and bottom front teeth and the teeth were very twisted so it had to be done.
Simon also has over active tear ducts which means his eyes look runny. His new owners must be prepared to wipe around his eyes twice a day to keep him clean. As he has no front teeth, Simon cannot clean himself properly, new owners must be prepared to clean his back end for him when needed.
With no teeth, he would make an excellent house rabbit. He needs a home with a spayed female rabbit for company. He has been vaccinated and neutered.
Simon is full of life and a fantastic little man. It's hard not to fall in love with him when you see him!

He was found in a hutch with a dead kitten (cat kitten) by the RSPCA and he is constantly pushing the hay in his indoor cage from one end to the other all the time, Enya now is use to it but at times she get's annoyed at him as he covers the water and the food up when he does it and we think he's covering the dead kitten up. The indoor cage is in the middle of a big play pen and before we got Enya he was in the indoor cage doing it all day and night but now he just does it when they are put in their indoor cage for the night. They are houserabbits and next to our bedroom so I can hear him. Now he's got Enya he doesn't do it much during the day as he is out in the play pen with her.
He is happy enough but we have tried everything and he still does it, he also does this in litter trays as well.

I know it's heartbreaking to watch because you know that it's affected him and left him with this behavioural problem which we can't do nothing about. If you leave them out in their pen all night he will still do it so it's a waste of time we have tried that.
He is happy enough and he loves Enya and she loves him and as long as he's happy that's all we are bothered about

Re: Simon - Toothless Netherland Dwarf - SURREY
I haven't bumped Simon in a while as he had to have another operation. His bottom tooth had started to grow again as the tooth shattered the first time he had it removed. On the last operation, the tooth came out much easier and our vet is 99% sure all tooth fragments are now removed.
Simon is recovering remarkably well and is once again, looking for a home. He is a cheeky little boy who loves to play!

Do you rehome nationally and has this little fellow found a home yet as we have a few special needs bunnies many with dental problems and would be prepared to take him if we can get him here.

The Hu-parents will be in Birmingham at the end of the month so should be able to do Birmingham-to-Blackburn on a Bunny run on 29th July if he can be got to Brum for 28th or 29th. Could put him up for a night or two as well.
