Back From The Vet Empty Back From The Vet

Post by icedancer Thu Mar 22, 2012 6:15 pm

Florence had her myxi tonight, and seeing as Dougal was going along anyway I booked him in for a check up. I was expecting trouble from Florence, but she was an absolute angel. Dougal outshone her in the nortiness stake!!! Firstly he wouldn't go in the carrier. I got thumped at. I told him that it was not optional and had to go in. As soon as he was in there Florence followed, fantastic! I locked them in and all I could hear was "thump thump thump", all the way there "thump thump thump", in the vet waiting room "thump thump thump".

Florence went first as she was at the front of the carrier. She was fantastic Love Allowed the vet to completely examine her, including teeth, and didn't even flinch when she had her jab. The vet said her teeth were really good and she got a full bill of health. Yay! That was a relief about her teeth, where she's a little lop I'm so paranoid about it.

Then the fun started. Dougal wouldn't come out of the carrier. So the vet decided we should take the top off. She put Florence on the floor to run around, and she was having a great time! She was exploring the whole room, sniffing and having a lovely play. I managed to pick Dougal up with no roof on the carrier and then Florence happily hopped back into it. Although when the vet reassembled it she looked out as if to say "oi you've spoilt my fun". The vet commented on it too Laughing and how she just wasn't phased at all by being on the floor, she loved it Embarassed Embarassed She's a little tart, she done the same at the rescue! The vet wanted to know all about her bunny dating, and said how nice it was she now had a friend (everytime I saw the vet in the past she told me when I was getting her a friend) and asked how they got on and stuff.

Dougal wasn't that bad being examined, although he hated his teeth being done. He was no where near as cooperative as Florence was, but he put up with it. He too got a clean bill of health, including teeth cheers So I must be doing something right.

I took Dougals jab record along with me, and all his dates have been put on the computer so I'll get reminders. I'm really tempted to just stay with this vet when I move, because they are so good. All this only cost me £15, Dougals check up was free.

Thank goodness that's it until Dougals myxi in June/July!

Oh and I mentioned the combined jab, she said they are keeping the details completely quiet as they want to do a massive product launch. They are going to go over to it, but are still going to do six monthly bunny health checks, so that's a weight off of my mind.

I'm so glad they got a clean bill of health! I know their teeth were of concern to you. Poor Dougal may have thought you were taking them both back to the rescue....for good. Poor little thing. He and Florence love you so much! He'll understand now hopefully!

Your vet sounds lovely...i dont think the vets at my place are huge fans of bunnies. I wish i could have bunny chat when i take mine in, i get odd looks whenever i attempt it...My main vet things me and xxranxx are just nuts. Laughing

I am lucky, one of my vets has actually had bunnies and I think she still may, so we have someone to go to if we have a problem.

Florence is such a madam....I can imagine her saying to the vet....."see I'm an angel - whatever she tells you, its all lies!" ha ha

Poor Dougal letting it be known how displeased he was with the situation! ha ha

The vet didn't believe me that Dougal is normally the laid back one!! He was not happy at all about the experience, whereas Florence saw it as an excuse to show off No Normally when the vet checks her bum she goes balistic, but she was as good as gold Shocked I don't know if it was because I'd done a few leading up to it and she decided it wasn't so bad or what I'm not sure.

Or maybe she decided to get one over on Dougal No
