Re: HELP !!blues update
Have you a syringe at home? If so just syringe some water into her. I often find Bruce will start making more of an effort to see to himself if he thinks the alternative is force feeding/drinking.

Re: HELP !!blues update
You should syringe some slightly warm water into her in case she is dehydrated.
Once you have some water in her try and get some food inter her, try the water first though

Re: HELP !!blues update
I agree with Katie, tepid water first. There's nothing like being dehydrated for making you feel rotten. Does she have a bottle or a bowl to drink from at the moment? If she usually has a bottle, I would give her a bowl too.
Do you still get the impression she is uncomfortable when she is eating?
If you're not happy with her, definitely take her back to the vet tomorrow. I assume she is shut in so you can monitor exactly how much she poops (and even take some with you).
Do you have any fenugreek crunchies? They are an appetite stimulant.

Re: HELP !!blues update
took my baby back to the vets as every time i tried to syringe her she got stressed even more and i explained that i was worried abot gi stasis and pains in her mouth so they checked her mouth and said they could not see any more problems but can not rule out possible start of infection but they listened to her tum etc.. and said i was right to bring her in there is no movement and there should be and is stasis so they gave her two jabs and sent me home with some zantac syrup and said if she does not improve they will take her in and use cameras etc..BUT she came home and had a long drink from her water bowl and i bought her a vegtable salad bake which is huge and she keeps munching it she had a sleep and now ate some spring greens i relly hope she is on the mend i couldn't bare her being in overnight
today has been mayhem as my son fell over in his bedroom as his knee gave way and today could not walk on his leg for pain in the knee and his arm was really hurting so went to hospital with him this morning and he has broken his arm and damaged his knee then took blue to vets etc..
the vet said they will only charge me for the meds and not the consultation as this has been ongoing so only had to pay £27.

Re: HELP !!blues update
Oh gosh Rob, you have had a day of it haven't you?
You should be able to hear movement in her gut if she will let you put your ear against her tummy (make her think you are just giving her a snuggle) - listen each side and you should hear some glugging and gurgling.
Do you know what the jabs were (it might say on the invoice if they gave you one)? Normally when I have had a bun in stasis I have given Metaclopramide for a few days after they have had one lot injected at the vets. If they have injected Metaclopramide that should last around 24 hours but some buns need a few more days to make sure their guts are moving properly and get them back into the habit of eating.
If she starts to seem bloaty, take her in for an x-ray (our vet charges about £40 for this).
Just thought I would mention as well - some of us have taken all our buns off of spring greens for a while as they have had upset tummies (sticky bums rather than stasis). We're giving ours some herbs, limited pellets and loads of nice hay at the moment
ETA - I hope your son heals soon too

Re: HELP !!blues update
thanks sparky
what herbs oher than basil and parsley can i give,
there was no invoice but she seems more at ease my vet charges £70 for xray i believe or somewhere near that they said that they are keeping it all updated on their system so if it turns out that all this and the dentals can be put down to a particular problem i may be able to claim some monies back from her insurance but they want to get her back to perfect first.
i mentioned pain relief and he said that he did not feel she needs at the mo and did not want to put any complications to the ongoing treatment unless nescasary just to see if any improvement is seen in the next few days.
but she did show some improvement today so heres hoping it's all settleing down now.

Re: HELP !!blues update
If you struggle to hear putting an ear to her side then stethoscopes are available quite cheaply. It is a useful tool to have when you have buns. Although I have one for other reasons I never need to use it on Bruce as you can hear his stomach from all around the house when he is having a drink! the first time I heard it I thought something was terribly wrong and he was quite bemused as I kept prodding him to check he was ok.

Re: HELP !!blues update
Fennel , chamomile and mint are both really good for stomach upset Rob. You can give fennel bulb just sliced up - mine get it everyday and I have just bought some plants for the herb bed. You may well be able to get dried chamomile flowers from a equine shop, or some health food shops, neals yard (if you have only locally), or I understand that it is ok just to split open a teabag.

Re: HELP !!blues update
Have you seen the excellent rabbit advocates list gentl?
http://www.adoptarabbit.org/articles/packet/abcvegi.html
I also refer you to the 'Green Food for Rabbits and Cavies' book.
And also the medi rabbit list - http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/GI_diseases/Food/feeding_en.pdf
I have a big book on herbs and comparing it to the lists I tend to think it is easier to rule out herbs rabbits can't have rather than count them in! Mine love all herbs (except rosemary).
