Thumper ate..... Empty Thumper ate.....

Post by gentl Fri Apr 06, 2012 2:38 pm

My Thumper somehow got a hold of three packets of Lactaid. The foil
packaging is gone, so he must have eaten it. Half of a tablet is also
gone. Does anyone know if Lactaid is harmful? I know rabbits aren't
supposed to have dairy. The vet doesn't open for another hour. It's
8:30 am here.

He seems perfectly fine. We don't know when he ingested this or
how he even got to them. Hubby keeps them locked in his briefcase.
We are very careful about our medications because of Thumper
and our grandkids!

From a brief read on the internet, it seems that dairy is mainly dangerous for buns due to the bacteria in it, which can upset our digestive systems.

It's difficult to identify what the ingredients in Lactaid actually are to judge whether they might do any harm Hmmm

I do hope my American buddy is ok Hugs

PS - Is it ok if I admit to a snort of laughter when I thought Lactaid might be a laxative and had visions of Thumper projectile pooping? (Although I realise laxatives might have serious consequences for us bunnies)

Got a hold of the vet. He chuckled and said it wasn't anything to be very concerned about and that the foil should pass through if he even swallowed it. And that He seriously doubted Thumper would have swallowed the lactaid because of the taste.

So I just watch the poops. LOL And he is making mounds of perfect poops today! My other buns have all been Holland mini Lops and Thumper poos 4 x as much! I shudder to think the amount of poops a Giant breed makes!

Ah, Sparky. You made me laugh. Thank you! That was quite a word picture that you painted there. I see him doing that if his greens were late or hubby forgot to give him his carrot the very first thing in the am. Ready! Aim! Fire! ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL It would be better than him peeing on my Husband's place on the couch though!

Thanks all. Hugs You're right Katie! They do know how to worry us! The stinker is under the bed right now playing with a fruit cup container he bumped down so he could chase it. he has toys, but he won't play with them. Silly rabbit! I love him so! Love

I think that's good advice from Sparky as the poops are going to shoot out foil wrapped! Laughing
