Re: Grooming and food.
Sience Selective Adult rabbit food or Burgess Adult rabbit food are very good and quite popular and we use a small slicker brush ( not the ball pin ones) for the buns when they are moulting.
Something like this a soft pin slicker brush http://www.petsathome.com/shop/soft-pin-slicker-brush-by-options-15828
Burgess Adult http://www.petsathome.com/shop/burgess-excel-tasty-nuggets-adult-rabbit-food-2kg-4kg-and-10kg-15703?freeText=burgess+adult&msg=MSG_SEARCH_ONE_MATCHING_PRODUCT
Sience Selective http://www.supremepetfoods.com/product/science-selective-rabbit/
Check the internet for rabbit food as you can get it cheaper on some pet websites

Well we use both and we do boarding and most of the people that board with us are on Excel or SS. They are expensive but sometimes they are on offer and that's when we buy a few bags.

Re: Grooming and food.
Bear in mind that you only have to feed a eggcup full of nuggets per rabbit. I end up feeding my pair about 30g per day. The rest should just be hay.

Even with twelve buns, we don't spend an awful lot on pellets because we don't feed masses of them. We probably spend more on 'posh' hays and dried herby-type things to be honest...

Re: Grooming and food.
Allan & Paige is what I feed to my rabbits and it is a very good quality food, don't let the amazing price make you think otherwise. It has an excellent fibre content.
The two downside's to it are that some older rabbits seem to loose a bit of condition when it is fed over the harsh winter months. To remedy that I use the Allan & Page Breeder Grower pellets from October to March as they have a higher protein content, and are only marginally more expensive. I use the A&P Natural pellets for the rest of the year. The other is it has a relatively short shelf-life so you may end up throwing some away if you only have a couple of bunnies. Despite that it will still likely be a cheaper option!
Also worth mentioning many independent pet shops will order it in for you and then, because you don't need to pay delivery, it costs closer to £11 a 20kg sack.

Humum really wanted to get us onto A&P as she had heard such good things about it. We just weren't keen. For the first time ever there would be breakfast pellets left in the bowl at teatime, although everybunny had picked out every single Burgess pellet from the bowl. She was also not convinced that we were maintaining weight on it (and most of us are young). It does have an excellent reputation and I think we could get it for around £9 a sack...Sooz wrote:Allan & Paige is what I feed to my rabbits and it is a very good quality food, don't let the amazing price make you think otherwise. We're currently on a 50 / 50 mix of Burgess Excel and Science Selective.

Re: Grooming and food.
I just use hay and newspaper in the litter trays. For my pigs I use megazorb in the winter. I always avoid shavings as there have been issues around them causing respiratory problems.

Re: Grooming and food.
We use pelleted wood cat litter for our buns, as we have to get it in for the cats anyway.
Shavings are not recommended for rabbits.
