Snow glories toxic?
We have a lot of snow glories that are in our yard. Are they toxic to bunnies? We are trying to find a place for our outside hutch and run.

I had to look those up. I would have known if you had said Choindoxa. They are a bulb and the general rule of thumb is that all bulbs are poisonous to buns. I will find the poisonous list for you.

That;s not good, there's not to many spots in our yard that those aren't on. We will have to come up with another option.

They are coming with a large wood hutch and metal cage. And a movable run. I found an area for the hutch and we will place them in the movable run in safe spots in the yard when we are out there with them. thanks!

Re: Snow glories toxic?
I was just going to say that rabbits decimate grass quickly when they live on it permanently so you may prefer to put down patio slabs or put them on a patio area for daily this makes it much easier to see to them and to keep them clean. Then you can put an extra run on the lawn for them and keep it moving. Have you read the bits in the information section about housing? They are worth a read. Also http://www.therabbithouse.com/ is worth checking out for other ideas about set ups.

Good Advice from cheryl.
The RSPCA and the Rabbit welfare association recommend that bunnies have access to a run for at least 12 hours per day. Bunnies need lots and lots of excersise.
They also say that the minimum size of a hutch should be 6x2x2, with a run attached that they have free access to.
cheryls idea about putting it on concrete is a good one so long as they have lots and lots of good quality hay to eat. Once they have been neutered and can be put together this would be great accomodation for them both.

Here is the link to the RWAF guidelines. They are worth a good read, as you will learn loads from this information. Most of which is an absolute must for a new bun owner.
hope this helps you hun.
Buns are such fun Im sure you are going to really enjoy having yours

Re: Snow glories toxic?
thanks for the great links! I know the damage they can do to a yard, we do plan on moving them around in the yard. In the winter they will have time to play on the floor in our living room. I would never keep them outside in the winter. We live in minnesota in the USA, gets - 25 F outside,

Re: Snow glories toxic?
My SIL lives in Burnsville, Minn. It is a lovely state but sooo cold in winter.
Rabbits can cope with cold (my last pair lived outside and survived -22 one year) but I think your winters aren't just very cold, but also very long which makes things so much more difficult. Your living area also might be too warm for them after having been outside part of the year, so think carefully where they will live.

I thought this said Bunnsville at first. I was going to ask Humum if we could move there...
