Junior's new morning thing!!
Our morning routine is as follows!!
I get up, go in and say hi to them.
Go downstairs and grab their food
Have a shower
Feed them
Open the pen door and let Molly out to finish hers off so he doesn't!!
Tell Molly to go back in the pen and finish getting ready
Let them out for a play/run while I sweep the pen out.
The last 2 weeks or so, Junior has started his own little thing!
While I'm sweeping the pen out he always comes back to the pen, regardless of whether they are in our bedroom or all the way downstairs in the kitchen, and looks at me. I then pass the litter tray to him, he has a pee and then runs off again to find Molly.
It's sooo cute!! There is a litter tray in the living room but he always comes back to the one in the pen!! And his little face "I need a peeeeee!!"
Then I put hay in the clean litter tray and say "bedtime" and they head straight back to the pen
Sorry for the dullness of this post, but I just had to share the cuteness!!!

Re: Junior's new morning thing!!
I'm really impressed with how well they are training you*
I think you have been really lucky and ended up with a fabulous pair of bunnies, and you must be doing something right in their up-bringing
*Except that I would never accept any delay in breakfast... I expect Humum to come stumbling in bleary-eyed and half asleep and feed us as soon as her feet hit the floor beside the bed. Sometimes, if she is *really* desperate, I'll let her have a quick widdle first
Gizmo jumps upstairs in our pen as soon as he sees her in the morning or after work - she thinks that is quite cute but it's cupboard love really.

On one hand, I agree with you about their training but on the other, they are seriously driving me spare. I can't get them to poop in the tray for love nor moneySparky wrote:I'm really impressed with how well they are training you*

They aren't too bad in their pen but every evening they poop all over my living room rug, they even do the occasional pee on it I don't understand how I can train them do the other things and not be able to litter train them
I also don't get why Junior comes all the way back upstairs to pee in the morning but will happily use the rug as his toilet in the evening
I'm sorely tempted to lift the rug for a few days, I'm not sure if they are associating it with per and poop. What do I have to lose?
re making them wait for breakfast, I have to watch them eat because Molly only gets through half of hers by the time Junior has finished his and has his face in her bowl, so they eat while I am doing my hair and makeup.
Poor neglected bunnies

I swear, if he was a child, he'd be the one on the school trip saying "I need a pee" every 5 minutes

Maybe he only associates the toilet upstairs with toileting thats why he comes upstairs in the morning, and in the evening as your downstairs and he wouldn't want to miss anything [aka noms] he doesn't go back upstairs? try bringing the toilet from upstairs, downstairs in the evening and see if that saves your rug a shower

Re: Junior's new morning thing!!
Have they ever been confined downstairs, or have they always had free run?
If I remember rightly, you wee-trained them upstairs by keeping them in a smaller area for a night or two?
I wonder if you need to confine them in an area downstairs with their litter tray until they are using it, and only then do they get more space. I would definitely remove the rug too - once it has been widdled on, you know they will keep going back to it.

Re: Junior's new morning thing!!
I think it took more than a night or two but yes, it did work. Hmm... I'm going to have to put some thought into how I can confine them to an area downstairs. I only have two spare pen pannels and it's not like I can easily move their one up and down every day until they get it, it's tie wrapped to a cage Even then, we all know Molly can jump it when she wants toSparky wrote:Have they ever been confined downstairs, or have they always had free run?

I'm lifting the rug tomorrow. They've been a right pair of little ***** tonight! Showing off because we had visitors no doubt. They both peed on the rug, pooped all over it, digging at it and pulling threads out of it
OH sent Molly to her bed at one point but I felt guilty and took her back down
I can't wait to throw that damned rug out and buy a new one!!!

Re: Junior's new morning thing!!
Oh how cute!
Quick mum need a widdle!
I love it when the buns get in habits, obviously if they were house buns nagging at 5am brekkie I wouldn't be so keen
A while ago tigger had a habit of sitting in the hutch waiting for fresh water. She would lap at the bottle twice to hint and then look at me. I'd go outside and change it then pop it back in and before I'd clipped it on she would start drinking. Such a smarty pants.
