NEWSFLASH!!!! new rescue rabbit
Introducing Dillon, a standard orange male rex. Just picked him up out the free adds going free to a good home. I don't normally step in and take free add buns unless I'm keeping them myself (Hazel and Faline) but I have such a massive soft spot for rexes, I had to step in. I have organised a place for him at a local small animal rescue near me so he will be going there very soon.
He is 16 months old, and apparently a bit food aggressive and his previous owners put on thick gardening gloves when she fetched him for me. Apparently he is a bit aggressive and she cannot let him in the garden because of the children. She had another female which is very friendly which she is keeping.
He is very nervous, I just gave him a cuddle and you can feel the tenseness in his body and his rapid breathing. His eyes look quite crusty too and his nails need a bit of a clip. He doesn't smell though so at least he hasn't been living in a stinking hutch. I think he has been well cared for, he just needs neutering so he calms down a bit.
I will post photos later. He is very nervous at the mo. He looks just like Hazel but a lot bigger

He has the longest nails, have managed to clip his back left ones so far but he is a bit stressed so will attempt the other ones later. He is off to his resce place tomorrow.

Re: NEWSFLASH!!!! new rescue rabbit
I'm not sure what is wrong with his eyes, they look a bit crusty
I'm secretly hoping DH will let me keep him but I know he won't. I've put him on the lawn for new in the run, he seems a bit happier out there. He's so heavy compared to my other buns. It's not until I collected him earlier that I realsied how socialised my buns are, I never handle my buns yet they are so friendly and love to be stroked and fussed and come running up to me when they see me (except Faline ), Dillan is teriffied. Poor chappy, I know that if I kept him, I could neuter him and he would turn into a happy confident little bun like Boo did.

He's gorgeous! I hope he finds a lovely home....can you hide him for a bit and then bring him out with the "He's been here for ages" line?!

Re: NEWSFLASH!!!! new rescue rabbit
He is lovely
When I saw the topic title, I thought it was one you had rescued for 'personal use'. So now you have to tell hubby he has to stay, otherwise Sparky would be disappointed Don't make Sparky sad, Mr Vince the bunny *bigbrowneyes*
Let me know if that works

Re: NEWSFLASH!!!! new rescue rabbit
Dh has said it is madness to have anymore buns. He does like him though and has stroked him several times this evening I told him I'd put him upstairs in the spare room out of the way, DH joked that I'd probaly put Dillon on his side of the bed
That's not a bad idea actually.....

Re: NEWSFLASH!!!! new rescue rabbit
yes but I knew that all along. I found the rescue place before I contacted the previous owner else I wouldn't have intervened. He has a hutch waiting for him in his new temporary home. If I had my way, I'd build him a 6ft hutch and put it on the patio or raise the roof on my avairy and build a hutch to sit on top of the piggies.

Worth a try! He is beautiful! Once he feels safe he'll settle down. A little love goes a long way.
