We has a Houdini
Hudad left for work yesterday morning and everything seemed fine. We were all nomming brekkie and had fresh hay & water.
He arrived home from work at about half past three and when he looked into the drive behind the gate he saw Poppy sat on Roo's Tube How on earth did she get out?
It had been raining most of the day and she was soaked so he dried her off, popped her back in her pen and made a few security modifications (translated: put some bricks in front of the door ). He thought nothing more of it.
Later he happened to speak to our hu-neighbour who said Poppy had been out on the drive not long after hudad had gone to work and she couldn't get back in so he opened the gate and let her back in, locking the gate after her.
So she had spent all day while hudad was at work outside in Reggie & Taffy's run area with no food or water and had gotten soaked to the skin. Hu-neighbour didn't know that wasn't her run and she should have been in the run in the corner (there's so many of us and its difficult enough for our hu-parents to keep track).
Hudad then thought she must have gone over the top of her hutch, a jump of about three feet So he made some arrangements up there and thought all would be well. But no!
About half past ten last night hudad decides to have a cigarette and check on Poppy and the babies. One, two, three....... where the **** is she? He searches the whole drive behind the gate, under hutches, even in the garage in case she managed to squeeze in under the doors. So he opens the gate and searches on the drive at the front. No sign of her
Now he's starting to panic. What will he tell humum? How can a bun just vanish with no apparent escape route?
On a whim he decides to check the pile of stuff that's going to the tip just in front of the gate.
Did that piece of carpet move? He was sure it did, ever so slightly. Opening it out, who should be sat there but Poppy on her second escape attempt. Silly girl hadn't even packed a bag of noms - Amateur! So hudad picked her up and cuddled her all the way into the kitchen where she stayed all night with a fresh litter tray and about two tons of hay, fresh food and water. Hudad gave her a pile of herbs and she wolfed them down in no time.
This morning, hudad has improved upon his obviously rather feeble security arrangements and Poppy is back outside. He'll be checking on her every half an hour from now on
Hudad asks does anyone know where he can hire Joan Ferguson?

Hudad had a chat with Uncle Mike Tucker earlier and they think that may be the case. He's going to keep an eye on them for a bit before making the decision to split them up though.

Re: We has a Houdini
What a bad bunny! I know the feeling (although not quite as scary since Willow is a house bun) - she is forever getting in behind the barrier that blocks my bed and getting back out as well, although I always worry that she'll get stuck one day without noms or water. I've given up now and have just taken the barrier away and spend forever scraping bunny moult hairs off my bed

Sounds like it may be an instinct thing as she has been such a good mommy. She's beautiful too.

Wow I'm glad you got her back into safety! Silly girl
(Thanks Maysie for explaining who Joan Ferguson is! She used to be the headteacher at my kids' primary school - and she indeed was a bit of a bag. )

Hudad is amazed when people do not know who Joan "The Freak" Ferguson is. He can't understand people who don't like Prisoner Cell Block H

It was on too late at night for me! I didn't watch it, but did laugh at the name! Her namesake at school was a bit of a disciplinarian too! She was one of those teachers who greet you with your first name one day and your surname the next. so you never quite know where you stand.
