A good sign or just coincidence?
Well, little Mr Mojo has settled in really well now. I was sweeping out his pen/cleaning him out earlier and he was all interested in what I was doing and happy for me to give him strokes and cuddles (he's not a fan of nose rubs though!)
Anyway, I have a question!
I moved the cages a little closer together today and while I was in there they could touch noses through their bars (they're not like that when I'm not in the room). They weren't aggressive at all - no grunting, lunging etc, they just kept making each other jump back But then just as I was leaving the room I saw Willow pinching some hay from the back of Mojo's hay rack (he was eating at the same time) Is this a good sign, as I've read eating in each other's company (and they were near as damn it "together" just with bars inbetween lol) is a good sign, or is it just a coincidence? And I've got myself all happy for nothing
Anyways, no negative signs so far

I have absolutely no idea as I have never bonded so I can't help, but I felt I wanted to join in with the happy dance so good to hear there's no negative signs

Re: A good sign or just coincidence?
Hehe thanks!
We're going to give them a little bit more room to nose touch between bars tonight and see how it goes (under close supervision only!).
Willow is just obsessed with him, she sits by his little hay rack most of the time and waits for him to come along, and she seems very happy and interested when the laid back little man hops along to say hello to her
Fingers crossed!

I'd like to think it is a good sign! Myrtle and Patch will happily eat next to each other but still wind each other up as well. When we first got Patch they wouldnt eat next to each other.

Re: A good sign or just coincidence?
Well Mr Mo has only been here since yesterday, and last night I gave him some hay at the bottom of his pen loose which he wolfed down, so I think he may have felt a bit intimidated eating from his hay rack as Willow could see him.
But tonight he quite happily munched one side whilst Willow stole from the other So I think he's feeling a bit more comfortable with things now. He's certainly more sociable towards me tonight

Re: A good sign or just coincidence?
Thanks guys, I do hope so!
Earlier on they were lay side by side in their cages. I nearly melted
We're just taking baby steps and doing things very slowly. Both Mum and I are totally in love with Mojo and really don't want to have to send him back, so we are being very careful not to rush things and un-do all the good work we've had so far. Fingers crossed!

Looking so good, I am so thrilled for you all
And isn't it magical when you see them laying down together - even five years down the line it never fails to delight

Sounds ok to me, the next thing will be them trying to wash each other through the bars

Re: A good sign or just coincidence?
Haha Gentl, let's hope so! They are currently in each other's pens at the moment. I'm trying to do this at least once a night for an hour or so.
The rest of the time they have been sat side by side in either cage very happily, but on Cheryl's advice I'm leaving them ten (now nine) days. And if the signs stay good over this period then we will be introducing them on neutral territory! Eeek!
