Hi everyone :) from a newbie :)
Hi Everyone My name is Jack and I'm 15 years old , somebody suggested to me that I join here, Some people may recognise me from another rabbit forum.
Anyway on to introducing my lot, I have 4 bunnies, 2 pairs I have Bella & Pickle and Flopsy and Lily. They live out in the shed, Our shed is divided in half and each pair has 7.6ft by 4.10ft and platforms, the shed is insulated , plywood on top and painted with bunny safe paint a nice buttermilk colour, the bunnies also have platforms which they have a litter tray on and an ikea bag holder mounted on the wall as a hay rack They also then have a cat flap that leads onto an 8x4ft run which is 3ft high. then on the front of the shed I have a little pen bit to stop the buns from escaping when we go in and out, we have a mesh door aswell, anyway I will hopefully show my setup in another thread or something soon, i will probably add a few pictures of the inside here if i remember after my loooooong introduction so be prepared
So introducing 1 of my pairs first, i will start with Flopsy and Lily, here are some pictures
Flopsy is on the left and lily is on the right
here are some indivudal pictures of Flopsy:
Flopsy is a Lionhead if you can see , He is 5 years and 9 months old so will be 6 in January 2013. He was from a breeder as back then I did not really know about rescues and I was not really that rabbit Knowledgeable as i am now but anyway He has mild dental problems I say mild as he normally makes 6-8 months between dentals, he's only had 2 dentals so far luckily, but his root problems are quite bad so he is on metacam twice a day to help with the pain and discomfort and to obviously make sure he is comfortable eating, Flopsy and Lily have been bonded since August 2011 before this he was living with his sister and they were together 4 years until she sadly died of Flystrike last year, Flopsy was neutered back in 2007 , i forgot to mention. We then got Lily as he was pining and was really depressed, they bonded instantly as she was young, they get on so well, Lily is now about a year and half and she was spayed back in April when she was old enough. Lily is also a lionhead, here is an individual picture of her:
Oh and here is a picture of their side of the shed, its difficult to get the angles right:
Then going onto my other pair, I will introduce you to Bella first, Bella is a rex and she is 4 years & 7 months old now, she has dental problems which are quite severe i suppose , her first dental was back in august 2010 which she had on her incisors (I cant really remember) then this year she needed and emergency dental in February she had spurs, then in may we moved vets.. Then in July I started seeing signs that she needed a dental so we took her in Our new vet John is an exotic rabbit savvy vet anyway this time she had her first ever x-ray and she had bloods done and a dental, the x-ray showed she has old spinal injuries , ones which we did not know about and she would have lots of pain, the x-ray also showed her spine was riddled with arthritis, the head x-ray showed that she had quite bad root problems and she also had hooks and pegs and spurs so she had a dental then and she was also put on metacam twice daily for both arthritis and her root problems, we were obviously so shocked to find out she had spinal injuries and arthritis!! she is so active and energetic anyway.. (also forgot to mention Bella was spayed in October 2011) Right since july bella has been okay she had her Combined jab along with the others in August and all was okay, then then the other week I started to noticed she is drinking more excessively and weeing a lot and she's a litter trained bunny and she was not being able to hold in her wee and was weeing on the mats and things, so i was quite concerned so took her into the vets Tuesday, vet checked her over and said she was quite thin, listened to her organs and things and could hear a heart murmur so she was admitted along with Pickle who she is bonded with and yesterday she had a GA has bloods done, xray and she also had a little dental as she had a hook, anyway the xray showed her heart was enlarged, The bloods came back today and revealed she has Heart disease which i recently found out rexes are prone to heart disease, also she has a problem with her liver functioning, we've got to go in the vets along with Bella tomorrow evening so she can be weighed and put on medication and so we can speak to the vet more. My poor girl, 3 dentals this year, arthritis, and now heart disease. Me and Bella have such a strong bond , she's an amazing bunny and she is always jumping on my lap, I love her very much, she takes her metacam on my lap , always licking my clothes, following me round their side of the shed, we have such a strong bond, I cant imagine life without her, my little lap bunny, hoping the medication will give her at least another year with us and her husbun. This is Bella, these pictures are from yesterday after she returned from the vets:
Bella is Bonded with Pickle, Pickle is from Cottontails rescue in Westbury, Wiltshire and they've been together since June this year and they've been pretty much loved up since then, they're a great pair and so close, Pickle is a real softy , here is a picture of him and then him and Bella together:
This is their platform area in their shed:
Anyway think that is all for my introduction , sorry it is so long but hello

Hello and welcome
Judging on your intro I think we all know who your vet John is! You have had some bad luck to have a rex with so many problems. Feel free to nose around and join in any posts.

Yep He's an amazing vet I only trust him with my bunnies , after bad experiences with my old vets who did not really know anything about rabbits but did not say and make them suffer and giving wrong treatment etc. I love having a rabbit savvy vet

Hello and welcome in
What gorgeous bunnies you have, and fabulous set-ups for them
We do like an intro post with lots of piccies, it means we don't have to get the Special Smilies out
I hope JC can come up with a treatment strategy for Bella that keeps her with you for a bit longer yet

Hi Jack!
What beautiful buns you have! Such a lovely set up too :-)
My three are also patients at Johns - he's fab isn't have, and Anton Vets are the friendliest I've ever come across.
My Annabelle has recently been diagnose with heart problems too. She had some seizures and is now on medication. Charlie is my Lionhead, who is severely dental, and also has root problems and a jaw abscess. Daisy is my Nethie, and is also dental (every 6-12 weeks) and we have been fighting a jaw abscess or almost 2 years. They are all blimmin gorgeous though!

Hello Jack! My name is Holly and I'm in the USA. Close to being in
the middle of it. You have a warren full of lovely bunnies! I think
that their shed is awesome. Plenty of space for them with lots
for them to do. You planned it all quite well. You can tell they
are happy busters.
I know you will enjoy it here! I'm looking forward to learning more
about your beautiful buns and more piccies!

Hi Thank you, will hopefully post a set up thread soon
John's great isn't he? Im so fortunate to be only 22 minutes away from Andover, the receptionists and that are really friendly!
Oh no She looks gorgeous in your siggy, fortunately I have not had to experience any seizures , hoping I won't can't imagine how awful it must be
What medication is Annabelle on? we've got to go tomorrow evening to see JC along with Bella so she can be weighed and put on medication and have a chat with him. Bless Charlie , is he on metacam for his root problems? would love to see pictures, if you put up a thread please could you PM with a link as I am just getting to know my way round here and might get lost trying to find it

Hi thank you for the welcome It took me an hour to do this post
Thank you, I got a few modifications to do now, put a ramp in so Bella and Pickle can get up to the platform that way instead of the stall as with her arthritis that is better apparently but will do a housing thread when that;s done that's what i did looking at housing threads on another forum before we renovated the shed in July
Thank you, Me and Bella have a strong bond, I love rexes so much, they're so inquisitive , clever and loving, Bella is always jumping up on my lap and following me I love rexes but don't think I will be getting any more again in the future knowing now about heart problems, I love Bella so much but could not go through with this again I saw your recent thread they're gorgeous and hansome love rexes, love all bunnies

Re: Hi everyone :) from a newbie :)
sorry it's because my flopsy is a girl
parsley grunts a bit and then kisses me on the hand or fingers he hates being picked up but once he's on your lap and having strokes he gets all laid back and loves it
i think it's in the breed the smaller ones seem to be a bit more grumpy
my flopsy will let you pick her up and cuddle she is so affectionate unless its my wife then she gives her aa nip behind the leg
