First official meet n greet

Our 3 year old Josie and 5 month old Diesel have officially met. We've kept Diesel in my daughter's room until now, but he is starting to destroy some of her things that we thought we had safe. SO....I moved up their first meet to today rather than waiting another week and a half to do it with the Hoppy Hour group. I have to say it went rather well. I was prepared for a rough start, with my work gloves, long sleeves and boots on.
They had unofficially met when he was about 10 weeks old and in Josie's room/my office. She did NOT appreciate it and started biting everything in site including my daughter's thigh (while she was standing up!). I knew it would be better with him neutered now, and in a neutral place, but Josie can be pretty brutal when she's not happy so I was a little nervous. Diesel got the first hump in on her and I was surprised how long she let him do it. She then turned around on him but he can scamper pretty fast. From then on it was clear that SHE is the boss-which I already knew. But I was quite impressed that in the 30-40 minutes I had them together, they were both comfortable enough to lay down, eat, clean themselves....It took a while for Diesel to figure out what Josie wanted when she pushed her head under his, and when he finally started grooming her, he kept licking and maybe biting too close to her eye. She flinched a couple of times, and the 3rd time he did it she chased him away. Overall a great success. I'm a proud bunny Mom and so happy that co-habitating looks possible.

That does sound like a really good start Thumbs Up

Humum has noticed that bunnies who have just met seem to want to groom around the eye area, but the one being groomed is wary. Once they are fully bonded, they are quite happy to have their eyes thoroughly cleaned.
