I always feel a bit funny with homeless people and animals, but this story isnt about that. That man did everything he could to save his rabbit which shows so much compassion.

Im glad the horrible person who did it got punished too.

I'd read about the incident, I'm glad the scumbag who did it got 4 months and that a crime against 'only a rabbit' has been taken seriously.

BTW the story is a bit confusing but Barney did survive and is still with his Hudad Smile

Crying or Very sad its terrible what that guy did to his poor rabbit. I hope that he is banned from owning animals in the future.

The poor man who tried to save his pet, you can tell how much he loved the poor little bun

Oohhhh yes ,when you read it sounds like he died!

The fact that rabbit survived says ALOT about his bond with that man, because that would have been such a stressful thing to go through Sad

What a sick person! I'm so glad he got 4 months.

It sounds like this man thinks the world of his animals and obviously has a very strong bond with them Love

They should have thrown the criminal in the river every day for the 4 months. Or better still, considering his long wrap sheet....lock him up and never let him out again. Ever.

I am so pleased to hear Barney survived and that scum got 4 months. Still doesn't seem enough to me, to get pleasure out of causing another living creature pain shows a psycopath in the making, whether it was aimed at the homeless man or the rabbit (I suspect he was trying to get a rise out of the man rather than it even crossing his mind the pain he would cause to the rabbit) and I actually don't think deserve any human rights to be shown to them as they obviously don't give a damn about anyone else's rights, whether it's pet or person.

What's really disturbing is the comments you read on these news articles. I saw a horrible news report the other day about a pet parrot being stabbed 15 times by someone's ex, and the amount of Monty Python jokes on the comments was disgusting and anyone who said otherwise was told 'it's only a parrot'. The fact that people find any form of actual animal abuse funny disturbs me, and quite frankly, I don't want to have to share the same air with scum like that.

The yob that threw him into the river got 4 months and that's all This story made me well up! Sxmas_santashocked_100-100

As far as I know Barney the rabbit survived and was sent all sort's of treats by the public. Don't know if he is still alive today as it's an old story.

Here is the video of him after he had rescued Barney out of the river and was waiting for the dinghy to rescue them both

This version of the story is misleading isn't it? I thought I had read it before and that the bunny survived scratch

I hope the little **** feels guilty for the rest of his life Mad Not likely though!!

I would end up in the cells if I saw someone do anything like this!!

From what I know of Barney he died in the owners arms not long after he rescued him and his owner gave him the kiss of life and brought him back. This can be done as Mike did it with one of our buns Poppet but she went on to die hours later.
