A good home for a rabbit? Empty A good home for a rabbit?

This week the help line has been inundated with calls from people who want to rehome their rabbits - many of which are still under a year old. Please, please think carefully before taking on any pet and be sure you can care for them for their whole life - our own circumstances often change so can you be sure that you can care for your rabbits over the next 10-12 years?

Our recent research showed that 67,000 rabbits went into rescue in 2010 - this does not include those rehomed privately, sold via classified sites, released to the wild, or simply left to suffer in a hutch in the garden.

If you are thinking of getting a rabbit, please try your local rabbit rescue first:

On our featured rescue page we have information about rabbits needing homes from Fluffy Paws Rescue which operates in the North of England, and also the Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre in West Sussex. Can you give a great home to Lulu, Jasper, Buddy, Angel, Bakewell & Suet or Scrumpy Jack, or to any other of the rabbits these or other rescues need to rehome? Please support your local rescue, and if you are able to give a home to a rabbit, adopt, don't breed.
