How did you go about it? Email? Letter? Phone?

Did they give a ****? Did you hear back? Did anything change after you did it?

I saw them sell a rabbit to a man today with a ridiculously small cage Sad I also heard him asking how long the bun can be left alone for if they buy those bloody cube food things Sad I'm kicking myself now for not saying anything at the time but the guy looked a tad err, rough and I was worried about how he'd react Sad

That poor bunny is destined for a life of misery Crying or Very sad

I really need to stop giving those **** my money Sad

I would contact the manager of the store in the first instance, in person if possible. If you felt their response was unsatisfactory I would then follow up with an email to the contact details on the website.

I no longer spend money at PAH.

Look on the website. You can phone them or email them. They will get in touch with the store and give you feedback.

I really want to believe that the cage will just be a base in a large area, and always open. And I hope that p@h gave really sensible answers to the man's questions so that he went home knowing how to properly care for his rabbit... But that's probably a bit naive of me.
Hope you get a decent response from them

Humum is due another complaint to P@H after their visit today. Four gorgeous (apparently) buns left without water until humum had words. They were all fighting to get to the nozzle once it was filled up No

I know how you feel too Thumper Sad .
I hate pets@home too,unfortunately I can't stop shopping there[as much as I'd like to!]because It's my only local large pet store.
There's lots of little ones but unfortunately they never seem to do what I need.
I hate the way they sell animals, they just sell them to anyone who swings a wand of cash in front of their face!! : No .
Why only the other day I saw a poor little lionhead bunnie being sold to a family with screaming kids No,the poor little thing must have been scared to death, they kept picking the box he was in up and running around with it.
The children looked only 4 or 6,way,way too young to have the responsibility of owning a pet.
Goodness knows what kind of life the little fella has now .
It just makes you want to scream and shout at them to stop this cruelty Mad
Goodness knows how many poor helpless pets they've doomed to a life in a tiny cage with no one to cuddle them Crying or Very sad
I really need to stop shopping there!!!!
It's just that there's nowhere I know near me that sells the same stuff.
I'm going to send them a really, really long complaint one of these days HBWS .

She will put the complaint in (apparently re-stocking the shelves was more important than checking the animals - they were in there almost as soon as they opened Evil or Very Mad) but sadly thinks it is a bit pointless. Humum thinks she's going to completely stop going in there - she went in to get Layla's special Christmas present but has pretty much decided if she can't get things elsewhere we won't get them at all. Which is fine as our fab little pet shop stocks all our favourite stuff and is always willing to get anything else we want Very Happy

Humum doesn't think twice about speaking up either - more than once she has said to a customer cuddling a bunny 'Oooh, how lovely - I hope you are getting two?' and gone from there...

Have you tried approaching your local independent shops with a list. They can often order in what you want even if they don't stock it. I found a local country stores that ordered in megazorb for me. My local independent will order in other stuff I want and there is always online retailers some of which are excellent.

I don't know how anyone could work in there. Surely if you like and care for animals you wouldn't be able to stand back and let things happen like they do?

I'm avoiding at all costs now too and have managed to for quite a few months now. Primarily ordering online now as there are no decent pet shops in walking reach (the only pet shop in town sells animals, and it breaks my heart whenever I've been in as they have single sad buns, being fed muesli with barely clean water bottles, one small plastic toy (if any entertainment), sat on sawdust and sometimes very little hay) but when I can drive I will be finding a decent pet shop within reach.

I am lucky in that my local pet shop (where I got Willow from) is very good. The rabbits and guinea pigs live in lovely big enclosures, with hay, Readigrass, clean bedding and plenty of stimulation - tunnels, toys etc. It is a bunny paradise - I only find it so unfair how they go from this to a hutch and forgotten about Sad

They also have a "no kill" policy - loads of pet shops just "get rid" when they're past a certain age, but mine just keeps them until somebody comes along for them.

They stock loads of good products but I mainly do my shopping online these days - I only get my chinchilla sand and a few bits and bobs from them.

The guy who sold me Willow was so in love with her that he kept telling people with screaming children and totally unsuitable ideas that she was reserved Laughing But he knew me from how well spoiled my chinchillas were and the amount of money I spent on them, so I was a suitable candidate Thumbs Up

She still goes back to have her nails done with him, and he loves to have a cuddle and always compliments me on her health. It's nice to have a caring pet shop close by.

Hay for Pets do a mix of Timothy and Rye hay which I bought for my chinchillas a long time back - but it was lovely hay then. Really green and stalky - and a great price too Thumbs Up

We shop at Pets@Home because we have to as some of the holiday buns are on Pets@Home pellets and to be honest Mike like's to check the buns when he pop's in and make sure they are being cared for because believe me if they are not cared for correctly or we see something we don't like we would tell them and keep going back till it's done correctly as we have done this before in our local branch where we use to live. Mike had mentioned to them at the time that they needed fans as it was very hot ( it was a hot Summer that year) and some of the rabbit's were panting, the manager said he would get someone straight away to put fans in and Mike went back 5 times that day and there was no fans in the end Mike refused to leave until they put fans in ....and they did and it took them less than 15 minutes to do it No
We haven't found a problem with our nearest branch, the bunnies have food and water and hay and look healthy I'm glad to say and in the hot weather that we did have they had fans.
