Something Special
Came into my train station today. The Sir Nigel Gresley A4 60009 Union Of South Africa. This is the first ever steam train I have seen and I cannot wait to go on the steam tour for my birthday next year on the Tornado. Here she is, such a beauty.

Re: Something Special
I was speechless when I saw her, she is truly remarkable. And my fella works on the railways as a trackworker which sometimes I hate because it can be really dangerous and I worry about him and he isn't used to having anyone worry about him or care so much, think he gets a bit annoyed with it sometimes

I use to know someone that was a trackworker and I don't think people realise just how dangerous a job it is.

Re: Something Special
I will make you jealous now and tell you I live not far from a local steam railway and I hear them going up and down all the time when I am at home. and I can see them from my upstairs windows as they go past. And the track loops round the town and near my work so I can see the steam going up as the trains make their way along from my office window. The most surreal experience happened in relation to the railway. I was driving home along the A38 in the Glynn Valley which has the track running right alongside. As I was driving up out of the woods Thomas the tank engine was coming towards me along the track. It was a really double take moment.

Or upsetting he once had to do a track after someone had been hit by a train and not all the err parts were picked up

Re: Something Special
It is a specific line that runs for 13 miles around here, but it does go down to the local normal railway station which is out of town.
