Came into my train station today. The Sir Nigel Gresley A4 60009 Union Of South Africa. This is the first ever steam train I have seen and I cannot wait to go on the steam tour for my birthday next year on the Tornado. Here she is, such a beauty.

I was speechless when I saw her, she is truly remarkable. And my fella works on the railways as a trackworker which sometimes I hate because it can be really dangerous and I worry about him and he isn't used to having anyone worry about him or care so much, think he gets a bit annoyed with it sometimes Embarassed

I use to know someone that was a trackworker and I don't think people realise just how dangerous a job it is. Sad

I will make you jealous now and tell you I live not far from a local steam railway and I hear them going up and down all the time when I am at home. and I can see them from my upstairs windows as they go past. And the track loops round the town and near my work so I can see the steam going up as the trains make their way along from my office window. The most surreal experience happened in relation to the railway. I was driving home along the A38 in the Glynn Valley which has the track running right alongside. As I was driving up out of the woods Thomas the tank engine was coming towards me along the track. It was a really double take moment.

Or upsetting he once had to do a track after someone had been hit by a train and not all the err parts were picked up

It is a specific line that runs for 13 miles around here, but it does go down to the local normal railway station which is out of town.

I'm going the the Mallard 75 event next year where all 6 surviving A4s will be together. 2 have been brought over from Canada especially for the event.
