Hector's not himself
He's eating/drinking fine. But he has nipped me and mum for no reason, he hasn't nipped since he was a little baby. He chews everything he's not supposed too, I have a couple of box sets under my bed that he's chewed, but when I give him similar boxes to chew he ignores them, he's not done any 500s and only one binky in a whole week. Some days he's really clingy and just wants to cuddle up and have nose rubs, and others he's in destruction mode and he nips, and chews and is generally restless. I feel like on the destructive days he is bored, but he has a ton of different toys that he completely ignores, he has loads of willow toys in different shapes and sizes that he loves, I don't know what to do anymore!

Re: Hector's not himself
Is Hector getting enough space to play ? otherwise it could just be his age as he is a youngster or the time of year as I do think this weather is getting
the buns down as a lot of our's are a lot quieter.
I'm sure he is ok

Yes, I always clear anything off the floor before he comes out
He is moulting quite a bit, could it be that?

Yes it could be as bunnies can be quite off when they moult they can be ill or depressed not many people know that but it's true.

Re: Hector's not himself
Our Jack gets very withdrawn and quite grumpy when he is moulting. The one thing he appreciates then is being brushed - he'll put up with it for ages. If he feels he does not need brushing he won't even entertain sitting still for it.

That was my first thought as well too Rob - Hector is at teenage tantrum age and will be moody even without his plums.

Re: Hector's not himself
Willow also gets quite moody when she's moulting.
Maybe it's a combination of being a moulting teenager

Re: Hector's not himself
All rabbits go through a stroppy stage at around 6 months when they develop into adulthood, just like dogs do. I would expect Hector to display this type of behaviour even with a partner - it is par for the course. Whilst we advocate company for rabbits here we also accept that it is not possible in all situations.

I'm sure when it gets warmer and he can go in the garden he'll be doing binkys ten to the dozen .
I'm sure he's fine,my Jenna has her grumpy moments.
up and down like a yo-yo .
I'm sure he'll be his happy little self again soon .
Just remember we're all here for you when ever you need us....

This topic has been tidied up and returned to the forum. Please keep it on track peeps, and think about the tone of your messages when posting. Adding a million smiley faces does not make it acceptable to dump all tact out the window.
Re: Hector's not himself
Definitely sounds like teenage years, but I thought I'd share that I do get a nip on the bum off Nibbler if I stick my bum in the way of his access to the fridge! (It is not a good idea to have a fridge that sits on the floor when you've got a bun who will happily jump in head first to the veg tray! ) I've read that nipping can sometimes mean 'oi, get out of my way' so the small nips could just mean that
And althought this doesn't help, I think it's a buns prerogative to chew anywhere they're not meant to!

your poor bum!! When he nipped me it was on my arm- it was flat on my bed, he could easily have walked over it but he could have been feeling particularly diva-ish that day, you know what buns are like
