Warm bed Empty Warm bed

Post by lucyface Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:18 pm

Hi guys my new little man has settled in really well. He is in an extra large dog crate.
At the moment he is sleeping in his hay basket (Which is fine) but I want something a bit warmer for him. It is incredibly cold in my house as we have no heating and I'd like him to have somewhere warm and cosy to go when he wants, I'm worried about him chewing a normal cat bed type thing though.
Does anyone have any views on this? Those with indoor buns, what do you use as a bed?

Thanks!

We've found that most soft, snuggly beds get chewed or widdled on Evil or Very Mad

A nice basket of hay is actually really warm - our lot are often akip in their litter trays Thumbs Up

I'm like you, I worry about them chewing a bed when I'm not around so I only give them it when I'm around. Tbh, they prefer to sprawl out in the pen anyway! They have a hidey hole cube and they rarely use it.

I put a big strip of Vet Bed in the pen where they tend to lie, it's very cozy stuff. If I put my hands on the spots where they've been lying, you can feel the warmth!

Mine either cuddle in their litter tray or just sit in the corner. I bought vet bedding but they won't sit on it.

Charlie and Annie love a cardboard box filled with hay or straw, they snuggle up inside and love it.

All snuggle fabric beds have been peed on and chewed!

My two have a large double hutch accessible all night with a dark sleeping area.
We also have lots of cardboard boxes filled with hay for them in the room to sleep/rest during the day.
They always rake all the hay out and sleep on the pare cardboard Laughing
They love cardboard boxes and use them more then the hutch Rolling Eyes .
I did have a small wooden dog kennel which they enjoyed.......then they killed it by chewing off it's poor legs Laughing
Does your bunny destroy things very much?,if he doesn't you can buy cheap dog kennels online or in most pet stores which make a comfortable bed filled with hay, bedding, etc.
Mine loved theirs until they destroyed it!.
if your worried about chewing then some small dog kennels have metal rings around the entrance[see the link for photo]

I find if you put a lot of hay in their indoor cage/hutch they make a nice cosy bed, or a cardboard box full of hay is always nice as it's snug and a nice cosy dark place to hide or sleep. Most will sleep in a hay filled litter tray Smile

Oh writing that at this time of night has made me all sleepy Sleep

Willow is always fast asleep in the hay when I go in there. I think she likes to be able to eat whilst still lying down Laughing

Mojo is always sitting under his chair which has a fleece draped over the seat to make it nice and dark for him. It is just pure concrete floor underneath but he seems to like it more than any of the fleeces, blankets, beds I have tried in the past - they just get dug up!

I have ordered them a new little oval soft bed but I doubt they will use it. If not it'll go to my guinea pigs who love soft and comfy things Very Happy
