Eating concerns.
Urgh. Where to start...
Molly in particular is concerning me... She's eating hay, she's eating nuggies with the usual enthusiasm and she's eating some of her veg. The easy bits. For example, she'll eat the leafy bits of cauliflower but not the thick bits (stems?!), she'll eat the top bits of broccoli but not the tougher (also stems?! ) bits.
I don't know if its coincidence but this started when I started giving them hay for pets Timothy and rye hay.
Another oddity... Usually when I get up in the morning/come home from work, they don't have much hay left so I clean them out, put fresh timothy and rye in the litter tray and alfalfa king in their hay wheel. Now, when I'm getting up in the morning/coming home from work, they are pretty much just starting on the alfalfa king hay I gave them at the previous change over. Both of them.
They are still eating a huge amount of hay and are binkying around like loons, but this is puzzling me...
Could it be that the Timothy and rye is more filling???
Any other suggestions?

Re: Eating concerns.
Oh, another thought!
I wonder if Molly is giving up munching the veg because she wants to get to the fresh Timothy and Rye. She goes straight there afterwards.

Re: Eating concerns.
Florence has always preferred hay to veg, when I took her to bunny dating I was really embarrassed because she had a nice big bowl of veg waiting for her, and she started on the hay first
If she's just in a hurry to eat the hay maybe it's just a novelty that it's really nommy and better than cauliflower (I don't blame her, cauliflower is rank).
Are you still having to tell her off numerous times a night?!

Re: Eating concerns.
I hate the ruddy stuff too!! It is a vegetable after all
I can totally see what you're saying about preferring the hay but this is new for her Maybe it is that she's loving the T&R. Which is weird because in the beginning, I didn't think she liked it
Yes, she's still a nightmare. She's doing bunny 500's and binkies as I write this. It's only a matter of time before she attempts to get down the back of the tv She's already been told off for chewing the door

Re: Eating concerns.
I wonder if she just has too much choice, so is eating the bits she likes best. Our lot have gone loopy for the H4P T&R too (and even Humum thinks it smells divine) - it's definitely a hay they choose to eat because they like it and not just because they are hungry.
All the time she is eating well, is perky enough to misbehave and is producing huge golden poops, I wouldn't worry about it.
Do they get broccoli and cauli every day?

Re: Eating concerns.
I'm thinking along the same lines, Sparky. I certainly don't think there's anything physically wrong with either of them.
We alternate weeks. Carrot tops and kale one week, broccoli and cauliflower leaves the next, mixing up the combinations as and when I maybe need to mix it up more throughout the week. But they won't blimmin eat anything else
You'd have thought I'd had my fair share of feeding problems after Thumper's shenanigans, wouldn't ya?

Re: Eating concerns.
I think this sounds like they are being fussy Hun - we have had a lot of this with the Daisy beast.

It sounds like they are being fussy to me, I wouldn't worry about it.You could try mixing it up even more, but to be honest she might just be fussy and there isnt much you can do about it - some buns are just like that. (wow thats a very helpful post isnt it! < )
