Gabriel and the Wildie
Wildie bun is back with a vengeance and is making a real nuisance of itself again. Although Chris and I are wondering if it is the same one as it does seem a bit smaller. With our buns having some time on the grass over the last couple of days it has been spending all afternoon hanging about. No sooner do we chase it away it returns.
These are some pics from this afternoon. Gabriel is particularly irritated by it and has nipped it on the nose several times. I have not seen it retaliate - it just wants to be near our buns. It spent loads of time last night hanging around the empty runs nibbling at grass. As we have next to no grass - it is mainly moss - it is obviously looking for company.
It's nose does bear signs of Gabriel having pulled some fur out and it also has something dangling from it's lip. It looks like a scab I think. I have managed to stop it geting to BJ and Rosie but am a bit stuck with the others. I need a rabbit scarecrow.

Oh, he's gorgeous
Gabe does not look very happy about it at all
I really hope the poor thing finds some wildie company of it's own soon

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
That Wildie is beautiful and in great condition and look's quite young and I wonder if it has been hand reared as I have never seen a wildie so close to domestic rabbits like this. Wonderful photos.

That is a thought Maysie - although it does run away when we approach it, it doesn't go very far. I couldn't believe it when it flopped out near to Ganbriel.
Thumper - I think it does want to stay. Last night it spent a long time hopping around Gabe's run as though it was trying to get in. (Gabe and Spring were shut away by then.) It is very beautiful - has the biggest brown eyes. We have some very good binoculars so I have seen it in great detail.

Oh my goodness he is so beautiful - could he be a dumped bun - it's odd that he wants to be so close to your buns.

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
You should look for a hutch on freecycle and put it at the opposite end of the garden from Gabe

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
The wildie looks like my Thumper did. His persistent behavior is making me
wonder if this is truly a wildie. Him wanting to be in the enclosure
really is interesting.

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
From what you have said so far Vanessa I think that Wildie has been hand reared and it's either got out or been dumped as I just find it so strange that he or she is not more scared and running off.

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
Like you all I am starting to wonder if this is a true wildie We have had them in the garden before but never one so persistant.
When I got up first thing this morning it was sat in it's spot near Gabe's run. It had also left some poops on the patio - they are very small and misshapen. I am therefore now convinced that this is the bun we had seen before. The 'other' one sat in the same place and the poops I found were the same.
All I can do I guess is keep a close watch on him/her. It's sad to think that it is lonely

Re: Gabriel and the Wildie
I know that you dont want to encourage him but what about putting out some hay and nuggies....I dont think a wild bun would eat nuggies so it might be one way of telling?
It seems really keen to stay.

Oh he/she is lovely, it is so sad that they want some company I wish I could suggest something to help but I think Katie's suggestion is a good one for finding out if it is a true wildie..
