Rain/Wind ????
Hi,
I have only had my first two rabbits since Monday afternoon and I am concerned about when the weather changes. They are outdoor hutch rabbits but do I need to buy a wind/rain cover for their hutch that I have seen for sale in the pet shop where I bought them ??????
Sorry for the dumb questions but I am totally new to rabbit keeping ?
Many thanks

Re: Rain/Wind ????
Welcome Jenny, not a dumb question at all!
Some kind of covering is a good idea, it'll stop the worst of the damp getting into the hutch.
I have a hutch cover I bought from ebay on our hutch and a tarpaulin over the top of that. I can recommend the ebay seller, and he even makes insulated covers too.
If I had the nous I would post a link but if you type in 'made to measure rabbit hutch cover' hopefully you should track him down.
I personally like the fitted rain covers as I like to be able to cover the front of the hutch. More enterprising members than me can perhaps give ideas for fashioning your own!

Re: Rain/Wind ????
Hello - yes is a good idea. Lots of peole make them and also make insulatiion in the winter using straw and bubble wrap and tarpaulins (making sure there are holes for air flow). I have a rain one which i got 2nd hand with my hutch/run and i think they are expensive new so is defo worth having a look on ebay - that guy sixer/amanda recommended sounds good.

Hi, just wanted to say that no question is a dumb question here There's a lot to learn and a lot of experienced bunny people who are happy to help you
Re: Rain/Wind ????
I popped the wet weather covers over my hutches yesterday, I cannot believe how wet the inside got the day before from all that rain and wind.
If you can get a clear cover thats even better because you can leave it down all the time (apart from in hot weather) and know they are protected from the elements.
In the winter we throw old duvets around the hutches under the tarp for insulation.

I have tarpauline over my hutches, but must get some clear plastic to put over for rainy days...

Ewwww slugs! I've had one in mine before!
My mum made me covers to go over the top/sides/back of mine that stay on all day and night, then at night time I have another cover that fits on, will try and get pics for you tomorrow.
