It came today and I have put some in the rabbits' litter tray and in the pigs hutch. It looks like this

Nedz Bed Advance - performance update. P1020630_zps8ffdcd63

So not quite as tightly packed as the smartbedz So seems as bit softer. It has been sterilized using steam and is supposed not to be palatable. Bruce tried some but does not seem keen to eat more. I am still a little concern about it's effects on the pigs feet so put a layer of megazorb in their sleeping hut on top of the nedz. The verdict
Treacle has decided not to sleep in the hut.

Aww!!! How cute is Treacle!!

I'm thinking it looks heavier than megazorb so it might not track around so easily.

Is it much more expensive than megazorb? Do you have a link for where you bought if from? Thanks Smile

Eta, never mind. Google is my friend Laughing

It's about the same price. I bought it from Millbry Hill but if you contact Nedz they can tell you if there is a supplier near you. As always the delivery costs for a product like this is almost as much as the product. You can get 2 bags delivered for 4.99 from them I think.

Sleepy Treacle Love

Do piggies have sensitive feet? I take it they don't have a covering of fur on them?

Normally they are not too sensitive, their skin thickens up as ours would if we were always barefoot. Nutmeg has a condition called bumblefoot. I am not entirely sure how old Nutmeg is, when I adopted the pigs the vet indicated she was probably the oldest which puts her at somewhere about or over 5. She has poor circulation which contributes to the bumblefoot. The condition can give her swollen feet that will become ulcerated if you are not careful. What she needs is warm dry feet. She can cope on just newspaper in hot weather when the paper dries fast but in colder wetter weather she needs something that is really absorbent. Megazorb is not really good enough for her and needs vetbed on top. This is too warm for the summer so really I am looking for a more all seasons litter that is economical and will keep her dry.

Flo's needs with her sore hock are not dissimilar.

It seems good. It is absorbing well (the newspaper underneath is still dry) and It gets softer as it absorbs. I seems to absorb any smell as well.

So it is day 3 and the original scoop of nedz has now almost completely turned in to a soft almost shaving type consistency as it has been peed on and (most importantly) it is still dry to the touch not only that but I have just picked out the litter tray with my bare hands and they did not smell afterwards. So total odour control. (obviously I still washed my hands).
