After almost 4 years of living in this house Flo worked out how to open the cat flap tonight!

It is now locked.

I'm quite surprised at Flo...









... or is it the first time you have caught her opening the cat flap? 

The cat flap is a bit high for them really, and neither buns really has the weight to open it conventionally. I inherited the catflap from the previous owners. She has managed it by boxing the catflap into submission. 

If she is boxing it, and it is one of those which relies on a plastic turny thing to hold it shut, don't count on her still being indoors in the morning 

Rosie used to regularly batter her way out of her chalet after she had been 'shut in' for the night...

She has been in and out non stop this morning. I am hoping she will teach Bruce as then I won't have to prop it open in the colder weather. The cat flap is not in their room so we are ok on the security front. She can't operate a door handle 3ft off the floor, yet!

She still hasn't quite got it.

You could try propping it open so they get used to going in and out through it without having to push it open too, then they can learn the 'pushing open' bit afterwards.

It didn't take ours any time at all to figure out cat flaps. It is a bit alarming when they go through them at 100mph, and even more alarming for the bun when it's been locked in the meantime

We used to set them on 'in only' to keep buns in to do health checks and things. They soon learnt to pull it open instead and squeeze through under the door

They have had the cat flap propped open for them for 4 years. This is the first time Flo has attempted to open it herself! I tried to teach them to open it originally but they were not interested at the time!
