Vet visits :(
Its that time of year again when Temperance is due her vaccination.
Firstly, I have not bought a new carrier since getting MJ and they don't really fit in the old one so I have to put them in this big plastic storage box. The main issue with this is I can't just shove/chase them in, they need to be picked up and placed in it. MJ wasn't too much trouble as he is easily distracted by food. T, she was less easy. She ran away but I managed to catch her (I go in their pen to put them in so they can't run far), she actually audibly WHIMPERED when I picked her up, it was awful (I was only actually holding her for a second).
Once in the box she is terrified, she hates travelling. MJ is less bothered although rather than him calming her down, she stresses him out
Once at the vet he lifted her out and her eyes were bulging, her little toes were all spread out like she was clinging on for dear life, she was flattened against the table and her wee nose was going like the clappers.
She was only in there for a few minutes, vet weighed her, checked her teeth, ears and had a rummage through her fur (OH! The indignity!!) then quickly gave her her jab then back in the box.
Once home I let them straight out into the living room. I lifted T out and then MJ. She sat there for a minute before hopping off flicking her feet in disgust. A few seconds later MJ did the exact same thing (I am 90% certain he is just copying her!!!). I offered treats as compensation but they were having none of it.
That was a couple of hours ago and still neither of them are speaking to me. Clearly I am a horrible and cruel human being!!

Re: Vet visits :(
Naturally - I think you need a spaceship carrier to reduce these problems.

The naturally bit was - naturally you are a horrid bunmum taking these poor vulnerable wabbits to be prodded by the evil vet.

What is a spaceship carrier?
The one I was planning on buying is the catit cabrio as it seems to get good reviews

Re: Vet visits :(
yep that's it. All the best buns have one.
That's Bruce modelling one in my avatar. He is doing and evil laugh after poking someone out of the airlock!

Re: Vet visits :(
Awww - you wicked wicked owner!
I have a similar issue with C&A...on her own Annabelle is fine, but add Charlie into the mix and he encourages her to be terrified too. She has absolutely no idea why she is sat there shaking but she does it anyway. Although neither of them are going to let that get in the way of a crunchie.
Daisy on the other hand will go on hunger strike for days following an experience thats not fully given his approval in advance.
Good luck with the persuit of forgiveness......

Re: Vet visits :(
Where did people buy their catit cabrio from? I am looking at petplanet.co.uk, it seems to be the cheapest.
Scrub that, not the cheapest after postage and the pink one is out of stock! Amazon it is!

Re: Vet visits :(
I love the space ship carriers, but the current one was quite expensive, so I cant get a posh new one until this one breaks. Its typical that my brother breaks my carrier by sitting on them when i dont want him to, and when i do want him to then he doesnt
Of course you're an evil hoomin for taking them to the vets, you must pay!

Re: Vet visits :(
We got ours from Pet Planet but got two so free delivery. You could always make the order up to £39 with noms
There's an eBay one which works out slightly cheaper than Amazon.

I prefer the orange one personally. It's a pity I don't want one as that is really close to me!

Re: Vet visits :(
The space ship arrived and is assembled ready for tomorrows maiden flight! Its an hour to the bunny boarding, hopefully they won't be feeling too cramped! (previously we took them in a dog crate but thats a pain as we need to assemble the crate in the car then put the buns in as it won't go in assembled :/)

Re: Vet visits :(
Just make sure that the front door is securely clicked shut.
You know one of the beautiful things about the spaceships is that you put then on the car seat then just run the seat belt through the top handle and then it is secured to the seat and not going anywhere.
They really are well designed.

I saw that in the book about securing them in the car! I was impressed that it came with a instruction bookcheryl'n'bruce'flo wrote:Just make sure that the front door is securely clicked shut.

Re: Vet visits :(
How much do they weigh? We'll happily put Jack and Layla in one so nearly 7kg of bun in total. They just cower together anyway...

Re: Vet visits :(
Temperance is 2.8kg, MJ is about the same so they should be ok. They are now in the carrier ready to go. I feel bad!

Re: Vet visits :(
Spaceship carriers rule! My vet was impressed with it the first time I took it (Dougal is a pain to get out of a front one).
But jeez how long do they take to put together!!!!!!!
How did it go?

It went ok, once they were both in there was actually quite a lot of room
Its quiet in here without bunnies running around beeping my feet and nibbling my trousers

There is nothing like a baby bun is there, I could cuddle them all day? I too would feel lost if Binky wasn't around.
