Problem with Dotty attacking Empty Problem with Dotty attacking

Post by Tuckerbunnies Thu Aug 22, 2013 7:33 pm

Dotty is crying and attacking when Mike try's to pick her up to put her in the play pen is this hormonal as she is due to be spayed soon, she is quite nasty at the moment but crying out loud when you go to pick her up, she is not hurt at all or ailing anything so it has to be hormones hasn't it.

How odd. I've never known a bun to cry from being picked up. Is there a way you could get her into the pen without handling her? It seems a shame to cause her distress when you guys have had such a great relationship with the mini buns.

They have started humping each other and this happens all the time when they are out in their play pen now as they are ready for spaying but Honor is away until next week .

Dotty started this making crying noises when the humping started and that's what makes us think it's hormonal but even we have never heard this before. Before you could put your hands in their cage and pick Dotty up with no problem at all but now she just cry's and attacks you but she doesn't cry when I try to pick her up but she still goes for me but she cry's when Mike does.

We are now using a small pet carrier to transfer her from the indoor cage to the play pen.

Greytail was the same before he was neutered but he didn't cry just box and try to attack you, now he doesn't attack he just grumbles.

How strange. I'm glad Honor will be seeing her next week. Could Cleo have bit her on the stomach? Could she have a problem with an ovary like a cyst? It is probably just hormones though. It's that time!

No it's not another issue as she cries before he try's to pick her up and she stops when he put's her down, we are almost sure it's hormones as she has just started to do it and they have just started humping as well. Now when he went to put them back in their indoor cage tonight after being out in the play pen he put the pet carrier in and they both went inside it and he just put it inside the indoor cage and they came out of it and he patted Dotty and she was great Smile

We usually have had females spayed before 7 months as Dotty and Cleo are about 6-7 months old now but we have left it later with them due to their Brother's having Coccidiosis soon after they were neutered.

Never heard a bunny cry had to you tube it to see what it sounded like, none of mine have ever made such a sound, the twins seem to be sparring alot lately but no sound like that, grunt/growl at each other but only at feeding times they seem to get over excited.

She sounds a bit like nethie Simon when you go to get him out of his hutch as he sounds like a little squealing piglet but with him it's grumpiness and he's always been like that...he's a nethie! Laughing  she hasn't been hurt or has a tummy problem or ill or anything like that she started the noises when her and Cleo started all the humping . Mike and I have been getting her out of the indoor cage every day and she's been no problem and suddenly she started this crying sound as soon as you open up the cage to pick her up but she doesn't do it any other time or if you open up the cage to put hay in or a treat this is why I think it's hormonal .
